my boyfriend isn't funny

It's always been a requirement of mine before dating someone. I like smart and funny. I'm afraid you can't make someone funny. Either they are or they aren't. If it's a priority for you, you should start looking for it up front before you have to set a man free and break his unfunny heart.0

My husband says the reason he loves me so much is because i make him laugh. He is more conservative but I bring out the silly in him and he loves me for it.
Opposites attract,. You'll just have to be the comedian in the relationship.0 -
I like humor but only to an extent.
Somebody posted on my wall that ugly joke about the nuns doing push-ups in the cucumber patch.
I was greatly offended0 -

Be careful what you wish for. After 19 years of marriage, there are days I tell my husband, "Your humor brought us together and it might just tear us apart."
Love that he is so funny, just at times, funny isn't what I want or need at that time.0 -
My girlfriend always laughs at me, so I just pull up my pants and walk away.

I find if a girl can't laugh at herself or laugh and lacks the qualities of sarcasm and wit then I just need to move on, but first I need to see if she is good in the sack. Just for the sake of knowing that is.0

I just posted this to my wall.
"I wish I could remember where i heard this story from, but i guess this girl always for got to turn off her ringer. This annoyed her boyfriend. So one night he recorded her having a particularly loud orgasm, then, while she was in the shower, he sets the recording as his ringtone. Next day, knowing she had an important meeting, he calls her. I guess the room got real quiet and she attempted to throw her phone out the window."
So be careful of what you wish for.
That is HILARIOUS!!0 -

My girlfriend often accuses me of have an over-abundance of humor.
No way. I don't believe it.0 -
Those who think laughter is the best medicine should not work in an ER department....0

I probably get pegged as "too serious" or "not funny" because a lot of people's attempts at humor seem egomanical, overwrought, and pathetic (which is why most stand-up commedians depress me to death). But humor that is smart, spontaneous, and delivered in an understated manner really makes me laugh.
Maybe your boyfriend is like me. Just because someone doesn't appreciate mainsteam humor, or doesn't laugh at everything they're "supposed" to, doesn't mean they're not a funny person. Maybe it even has to do with cultural differences-- is he more likely to laugh around family? Everyone has their own brand of humor but it may not be immediately obvious.0 -
Remember, it's not the size of the joke. It's how well the punchline is delievered!
Humor like any emotion has it's good and bad parts. Timing is essential, discretion just as so, but it comes down to knowing your audience and that is what is the hardest part. Some folks feel humourisly impotent, some can't get a joke in edgewise, and some folks just don't where their funny bone is. If it's limp, you may need to stroke it a bit.
Like all parts of a relationship, it takes work and finally acceptance and that it may be one sided, but can you live with that in a relationship? Are you funny enough for two? As the old saying goes, doesn't matter where you get your appetite from as long as you eat at home.
Just remember, a funny thing could happen on the way to Rome.0 -

Ive never understood serious people.
Lifes too short to be serious - and a day..hell and hour is too long without a laugh.
Give him a wedgie and dump him - you're bound to laugh at one of those moves.0 -

I think sometime we correlate happiness with humor and its just not the same thing. I can look at myself and make myself smile and laugh.. Call me a GEEK, etc....... But yes you might be doomed if this is a must. I think you should look at the person whole body of work and way the pro vs con. However, I hope you have had this conversation with him before us... Adding us or another to the equation will not make the situation better but complicated. Get you a quick fix and go to the comedy club or something. Humor is a good quality to possess, but Whopppi Glodeberg could not make me happy, even though I am sure she can make me have pains in my stomach from laughter....0

I would just like to say that I now have that damn Rush Rush song in my head ..0 -
What do you think she means when she says in that song "wouldn't like to get my love caught in the slammin' door?" It sounds painful.
Yeah, I've wondered that. How about some information, please?0 -
