HRM Question (I promise I already used the search option)

So, I just bought the Polar FT7 and went to put the strap on my body. Unfortunately, I have a concave sternum bone. Does the center piece (I think it's called the connector) need to be snug against the body or is it enough to have the strap electrodes snug? I know, super weird question, but I'd love some feedback so I can decide if I need to return this thing or not.

could you tuck it up under your sportsbra? I don't think I'd like it if it were moving around. I think it will still work fine, as long as the sensors are snug against your skin - it would be more of a comfort thing. Good Luck!0

I believe it's about the electrodes on the strap; make sure they're damp so the signals carry from you to the strap. The transmitter ("Wearlink +") is just that - it transmits to your training computer (the watch).0

If your watch is getting readings then its working.0

I don't know. My sports bra fits me fine, but there's a gap where my bones concave right in the center. I could probably get the center piece of the strap to fit snugly if I moved it 2 or 3 inches below my bra line, but would that still give me an accurate reading?0

Okay, I'll give it a try. I was hesitant to get the strap wet if it wouldn't work. Off to check it out....0

It shouldn't matter if your sternum is concave, as long as the electrodes are either side and the buttons for the HRM are central then you should be fine.0

Hooray! It's working just fine. Thanks, everyone!0

The watch should tell you if it is receiving the signals OK
it should be fine if it does that.
