I was running yesterday (did 8.2 miles) but 1/2 way through my left hip started bothering me.. I am overweight (194lbs) but has that happened to anyone else.. it is still bothering me today.. anything normal or?!?! should I continue exercising on it?!

  • I'm no Doctor but I think once you begin to feel the pain I would make note of how far you went and plan to arrange you running for not more than that distance. You can try more very slowly. Running should not hurt, if it does you have to cut back. Good Luck
  • I have ran 11 miles I run regularly like 5 miles or so .. but this has never happened

I agree with mman. Try to incorporate some strength training and stretch those hip flexors. Be careful. No runner likes to be injured!

yup - core strengthening is probably required along with a check on those shoes.

I remember when I was training for my first marathon, I started to get an ache in my hips and it was due to my hips being overextended while running due to a week core.
  • Yeah that sounds about right.. I had triplets and then another little one 2 years later... my core is def not strong.. been trying to work on it with no results yet... Yeah i have no plans to run this week.. just other classes and strength training etc.. just didn't know if anyone else experienced this.. kinda feels like a swollen muscle or something? IDK but I need to keep exercising.. Im going to body comat tmw with kicking and lunges... so was hoping was going to be ok for that
