Let me start off by saying I don’t hate myself. I love myself and I love my life. I just don’t like the way I look. I feel great until I see myself in pictures or on the webcam talking to friends back in my hometown.
In 2007 I moved away to go to college and the rumored “freshman 15” turned into the “freshman 50”. I started dating my now husband that first semester in school and I remember what I had on during our first date. It was a size 6 pair of jeans and a green spaghetti strapped medium shirt. Today I'm wearing a size 14 pair of jeans and a large black t-shirt.
Of course my husband tells me he loves me every day and the weight doesn’t matter. None of my friends ever comment on my weight when we are chatting online or when I take the occasional trip back home to see them. But I see it. And I don’t like it. And I'm ready for a change.
But I know I need support. I am the first in my family to graduate from college, and I have 2 degrees, yet losing weight is the hardest thing I have ever attempted in my life!!! So I'm here looking for weight loss buddies, friends, motivators and supporters.

)
i'm sure you'll have so many buddies on here soon you won't know how to keep up with them all, but i'll add you first off and i'll try and encourage you as much as possible!
you are gorgeous by the way, and you can do this if you really want to !0 -
I am the same exact way!!! My fiance is always telling me im perfect, but he would be stupid to say anything else, lol, and he is a pretty smart man! Its hard, i feel like no one understands, until i get on here and see that im not doing this by myself... there are so many people struggling with this, and watching the pounds fall off of them, makes me realize i can do it too!!! I just need to remember that as much as i want to lose the weight and have my fiance more attracted to me, my main reason for losing the weight... is for me! as long as i remind myself that I need this, i will succeed, and so will you!!!0

You CAN do it on your own, but it is much more challenging. It is important to have support and motivation from others. There are lots of us on here to help!0

Hey there, I have been using MFP for about a month now, but I don't really know how to use most of these forums. From the sounds of things I am in the same boat as most of the people on here and I would really like to be a part of this discussion. I have lost weight many times, and many times I have gained it all back. Like some of you, I have a great fiance who loves and supports me through everything, but he simply doesn't seem to understand my struggle with wieght and why I am so motivated to lose some:) We will be getting married sometime early in 2013 and I know that participating with awesome people like you will help me to stay comitted and reach my goals.
