I changed mine today, because I was staying in my goal, but still gaining weight.

Before that I changed it to maintain once I got to a weight I was happy with.

also, as you lose weight the site makes your calorie allowance drop automatically after you log each ten lb loss
  • After being with this site for a month, I increased mine. Not sure if it's made a difference, but i'll know pretty soon. =)

If you feel drained and hungry all the time, increase if. If you put on weight, decrease it. Hit a plateau, try increasing it...
You just gotta fiddle til you find what works for you..

Try this: works really well for me, it makes more logical sense to me.

Every 10 pounds (the site makes you)
If you're meeting your goal numbers, but you're not gaining/losing/maintaining at the rate you should be
If you're feeling overly hungry or feeling the clinical effects of not eating enough (dizzy spells, fainting, etc)
If you've changed your routine and now do more/less on a daily basis (such as going from retail sales or waitstaff to a desk job)
