sore tummy muscles after workout?

Hi
I've just started my new training programme from the gym and I find that the day after my ab workout my tummy muscles (I assume they are muscles which is exciting to know haha) are quite sore.
Is this normal? good? bad? otherwise? I always try to have a rest day after each major workout and swap my ab/cardio workout with my weights workout for every other day. The pain only seems to last for a day.
Just wanting to see if I'm doing things right. This whole full on exercise thing is new to me -especially working with weights and muscle (walking was the extent of my exercise prior to joining the gym a few weeks ago).
Many thanks

Its very normal to work muscles and become sore the day after and the 2nd day after usually being worse.
Good job on your workout don't be suprised when working your other muscle groups that you get sore.0 -
I love the soreness... then I really know I did a good job and engaged muscles I don't normally use.
Whenever you work muscles that you haven't worked in a long time - or in a different way you'll get sore. Nothing to worry about as long as the soreness doesn't last more than a couple days :happy:0 -
Brilliant - thanks that was what I wanted to hear
I like the pain too and I like sweat (who would have thought) but just wanted to make sure pain the next day was normal
Today is my rest day (I take my girls swimming instead) so will be back at gym tomorrow for another workout :happy:0 -
The pain is just weakness leaving your body.0

I love it!!!
I worked out yesterday morning the first time in a few months, and although I didn't do my full routine I still have been feeling the soreness all day today (mostly abs & obliques). I use it as a reminder to help keep me on track, and I'm actually having trouble winding down tonight because I know I get to do it again tomorrow morning and I'm excited!
It seems having the soreness makes me 'feel' healthier, more motivated, thinner, and more confident.
More weakness will be leaving tomorrow....I'm stepping up the routine a little.....0 -
My entire body is always sore-by Sunday it all goes away just to start over again on Monday-
Its all good though- You have to work it off and push yourself to the next level.
My husband laughs at me because I walk funny after leg days and by the end of the week all the pain and soreness has hit me he has to literally pick me up out of the bed if I get stuck in a position that I need to use upper body strength to get out of (like if I am sleeping on my stomach-he would have to pick me up because Im way to sore to roll or push my self back up lol)-- After a really heavy leg or back day he puts my socks on lol-
Would you say I push myself hard??0
