It's a type of yeast that's good for filling the gaps in your nutritional needs if you don't eat meat. It's generally found in the bulk section of grocery stores (around here, I've found it at Safeway/Carrs, QFC/Kroger, and Whole Foods).

Thanks, that is really great to know, I have been throwing the idea around of converting to either vegetarian or vegan, I think things through for a while first. Good info to have, I have been collecting lots of it

Nutritional yeast on popcorn is DA BOMB!!! I also added alittle black pepper. Very good. Thanks for the tip.
  • I'm mimicking the popcorn popper idea! I have a popcorn maker that I bought at Target for under $20. It air pops, no butter needed. I add some hot sauce and some butter flakes and go to town.

Now I have to try it
  • I read on 100 days of real food you can pop kernels in a paper bag with No oil or buttter. You can then put vegan "butter" onit

Yes - I've done it. 1/4 cup or so of kernels + paper bag folded down a few times + popcorn button on the microwave. Don't know why I ever bought the bags!

I'm vegan and popcorn is one of my staples! I got an air popper for like 20 bucks. Popping corn is so cheap, and I usually add a tablespoon of earth balance buttery spread and salt. Sometimes (like tonight!) I add nutritional yeast too.

    THIS^^^^^

An air popper is best and it will not stink up the house for days when the popcorn is burnt in the microwave. And it is WAY cheaper in the long run.

having an air popper is the best way to get healthy popcorn, no oils, butter or perservatives....just add a little no- salt salt to your popcorn.
