Safe to run after giving blood?

I gave blood today after a string of failed attempts - iron too low, blood flow too slow, etc. I want to celebrate with a run later tonight (I'll use any excuse for a celebratory run ;)). If I drink a ton of water, do you think it's okay to run 6 hours after donating?

My $.02 - I'd wait until tomorrow, but I usually donate in the late afternoons. If you do try to run, go real easy and be prepared to cut it short if needed.

Last time I gave blood on a Thursday PM. I ran 7 miles on Friday AM and 20 miles on Saturday AM.

yeah i would wait. I've often ran the day after donating & found that my HR is higher than normal.

    This. Drink LOTS of water.
  • The last time that I tried to exert myself after giving blood, I passed out. I would not take the chance. Trust me it is a horrible feeling.
