I've never done WW but this is definately cheaper  can't beat free! Try it out for a week and see for yourself, there are great tools and great people here.

I have been a lifetime member of weight watchers, having met my goal weight several years ago, and kept it off for several years, only to regain it again as I grew older, which means I have to pay for my weekly meetings, but never have to pay to rejoin.

I decided to give this site a try, after a coworker has been very successful, and find it has some great info and cost nothing. Great encouragement from friends of MFP.

    God luck.

I did weight watchers a long time ago and lost about 25 lbs, and gained it all back and it was expensive! I don't think anyone has to pay to lose weight or waste your time going to meetings, I absolutely love mfp....BUT Weight watchers def. wasn't for me, maybe do both for a little while because i've heard of some people who love it and it worked (like my aunt) and she's kept it off for about 5 years! Do what's best and/or feels right for you!:flowerforyou:
  • I did weight watchers years ago, I lost weight but as soon as I was not able to pay for the meetings and was on my own I gained the weight back and so so much more. I knew I could never become a lifetime member since my goal weight is no way near the ideal boney weight they suggest.

Since I have been using this site it has been easier and I have lost more weight in less time. I feel that this is something I can do for the rest of my life where there is no way I can pay for and attend meetings.

I'm not big on paying someone else to "let" me lose weight. When I see those commercials for some of the weight loss programs, "Lose 20 pounds for only $20!"...it really irks me. I think WW is the best of the programs though as it's more of a support group with guidance...but that's exactly what this is too, so why pay? Really though...ya gotta do whatever works for you.

I go to my doc's office to weigh myself and kind of check in with her to update her on my progress. I just found this site a couple of days ago, and I'm loving it. The tools here are awesome, and I love reading the message boards.

I was on weightwatchers prior to coming on here and I only lost tiny amounts of weight each week even though i followed the programme to the T. I joined up here read lots and logged in my normal daily eating plan onto the planner here and found out I was consuming far fewer than 1200cals a day even though I was eating really healthy - not processed foods etc. I think that my body went into starvation mode which it is now finally coming out of (thanks to MFP I've learnt far more than ww has ever taught me)

I think weightwatchers if fantastic if you have lots of weight to lose but for me I only have a few kgs to lose and I've been to weightwatchers since september last year and only lost a total of 9kgs. It is something that can make you reliant on the programme and doesn't really teach you fully about what different things do to your body and the importance of nutrients etc
