Okay I know it's normal to hurt and burn and feel pain while Exercising, especially the next day after some really heavy stuff. But I just had a quick question. Probably a dumb one, but, humor me.
I was born with the medical disease, cerebral palsy, Thankfully it wasn't as bad as the vast majority of those born with it. I'm 21 now and overweight likely due to not moving enough. So I've finally decided on a lifestyle change to get thin for my health and other personal reasons. After surgeries and such when I was 4 - 5 I can walk seeing as the motor functions were really only bad in my left leg. My leg is still a bit deformed- smaller than my right, but most people tell me they couldn't even tell- but then other's have asked me why I walk funny.
I can not move the toes on my left foot nor can I lift the foot. -But I can walk and as stated before, people have said they didn't even notice. I can't balance on that foot and have a tendency to trip and fall over my own feet due to it's lack of proper motor functions. And since I've been walking "normally" I've always compensated with my right side. when standing most of the weight is on the right side, or when stepping down or moving. So its normal for me to ache- especially in my right foot, after walking for a long time, and I figure if anything it's just building the muscles.
But My question is my back, I know it has a lot to due with walking and sorts, but after jogging or walking the lower right side of my back just at the top of my hip starts to get this stabbing pain, and Some times I push on a little longer, sometimes I just have to stop and sit a moment until it stops then get up and go at it again.
I just wanted to know are those types of pain at least 'semi' normal or may I be at risk of damaging my back? Should I ask a doctor next time I get the opportunity?

I'd definitely chat with your doctor...............just because of the alignment issues and such, you are bound to have some pain that most might not experience. It could also be your sciatic nerve, which seems to cause pain in the area you're talking about (I had some issues with that, and it's VERY painful, but can be worked out with exercise and physical therapy.)
Good luck to you! Sounds like you're making positive changes!0 -
Thank you for your reply~
Yeah I was considering that. My mother got a pinched sciatic nerve and could hardly walk, she ended up in and out of chiropractors to get it worked out. Might be something worth looking into.0 -
Yeah, defo a trip to the doctors. Especially since you have a pre-existing medical condition, it definately doesn't hurt to get things checked out...you don't want to do any long term damage.0

It sounds like you are overcompensating those muscles at the base of your back. But I would definately have it looked at by a Dr. If they say it isn't anything serious, you might want to start strengthening those muscles so that you can have better control. But check with the Dr. first.0

I had some hip issues when I was on the track team in high school so I would say that it is not uncommon, but even then as a healthy teenager I saw the doctor for it! Definitely get the opinion of a professional!0
