30 DS - diminishing calorie burn?

I am on day 4 of the 30 DS. I wear a HRM while I am doing it. I feel like I am giving it just as much effort each day, and my sweat is sure crying by the end of it, but what I have noticed is that each day my HRM shows less and less calories burned.
Has anyone else noticed this? What would be the cause of this? In only 4 days I doubt that I am in that much better shape and it sure feels like I am working just as hard. Any thoughts?

Have you adjusted your hrm to show any weight loss? The lower weight, the lower burn. Or maybe your heart rate was just up higher than normal the first few days since it was a new workout.0

Any exercise you do will have a diminishing calorie burn because your body gets better at it and more efficient. The more you do an exercise, the easier it becomes your body, and the less effort it requires to do said exercise or activity. I was the same way with 30DS so I tried heavier weights on SOME exercises, as well as pushing myself harder.0

I find my heart rate always slows a bit with each time I do a workout. I think it's just me getting fitter and handling the exertion better each time. Totally normal!0

you're getting fitter!0

Yup, basically use heavier weights or do the harder version of some of the exercises--I went from 177 cals to 150 in two days...then I used 10 pounders instead of 5s for the chest presses, and 5s instead of 3s for the shoulder raises...woohee--back to 177!0

Have you lost weight? If you aren't as big, you won't burn as much. I bought a HRM after starting 30 DS and before I received it, I was calculating 256 calories for 28 minutes. When I got my HRM, I discovered I was only burning 168! I hit that mark by 1 or 2 beats every time and I am on Level 2 Day 7.
Don't know if this helps but keep up the good work! She's tough!0 -
I'm no expert but it doesn't surprise me. You're adapting to the moves, getting more efficient at them....
But you know what...you're all sweaty after doing it so you might as well go for a quick jog or do some extra training to increase your burn!0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone! Tomorrow I will try using heavier weights and maybe do my treadmill workout right after instead of in the evening. Have a great week...and make that sweat cry! :flowerforyou: :drinker:0

i don't know what 30ds is but with weights, you eventually have to lift heavier or your muscles will stay the same...meaning, your body adapts and becomes stronger/has more endurance0

Yep, the same thing happens to me. I think it's because your body becomes more efficient. The same thing happens as I increase my cardio.0

This was me with the Shred, too0 -
Your body is adjusting to the new workout! Yes even after only a few days! Use heavier weights for some of the easier lifts and kick up the cardio a notch0
