no but i do go really bad ankle pains, when i run or jump have had too wear a ankle brace for a while now, trainer says because of the impact, and my weight.
  • Not here. that's weird! How bad is it? I'd see a doc, something might be all sorts of wacky by the sounds of it

High heels tend to force the foot/arch into more neutral alignment, which may be enough of a re-alignment to take the stress of your malleoli (ankle bones).

Are you flat-footed? I'd suggest trialling some orthotics.
Even if you're not, orthotics can give some more support and are worth looking into.

If its not looking like its going away, I'd see a physio for a proper check up - can't rule out stress fractures (as rare as it is to have bilateral on one ankle at the same time.)

If anything my arches are high rather than flat.

That also places stress on your ankles.
Be worth checking out shoes that support high arches / orthotics designed for high arches.

Maybe your feet are too used to heels ? I dont know your feet history other than barefoot, but if something is amiss the Podiatrist is the way to go. Rolling out perhaps whereas mine are rolling in.

http://www.footstrength.com/ - links, eBooks, software, etc. He used to print paper books but now you can download for a peek and pay to unlock.

    All the best.
  • That sounds like bone spurs, but I would def get it looked at.
  • I also have a decent arch in my foot. When I worked in an office, and wore heels every day, I would get the same thing. I was way more comfortable in heels. Flats and tennis shoes would hurt my feet. I even ran in Nike's that had a really thick heel on them and gave my foot some lift. Can't tell you if that was a good thing or a bad thing either. Was my foot adapting to something that wasn't good for it? I don't know. It's been so long that I can't remember if the pain was in my ankle exactly. Now that I'm casual every day (and heavier), heels KILL my feet.

Previously orthotics and arch support shoes gave me killer knee trouble hence switching to barefoot running some months ago. I wondered about plantar fasciitis but there is no pain when I flex my foot back toward shins which I thought was a key symptom.

I had a little tenderness in that area when I started upping my minimal shoe running distance. It went away fairly quickly, it that's what you are experiencing.

Mine started a few days after I did a 25 min run, didnt know it was sore until touched the area! then did another 25 min run few days later was niggly running but didnt worsen. havent run in over a week but it not improving, so dunno if i run again or leave it alone??? the odd thing is it doesnt hurt when i wear high heels
