I'm no longer on the MRC program, but I did do it about a year and a half ago.

I'm not trying to be a smart alek when I say this but essentially it is a weight loss center that helps you lose weight. They teach you how to eat healthier (using real food no prepackaged foods,) encourage a little bit of exercise, do weigh ins, help give advice when you have weight loss troubles, and help you learn to journal what you eat. Within their program they also offer classes like cooking classes for different holidays, how to dress for your body type as you lose weight, classes on traveling and eating the correct way etc.

It was a decent program, probably no different than others. It had its good points and bad points. If you do what they suggest you for you to do you will see the weight loss. When you deter from what they tell you to do, you will either not lose the weight or keep it off if you did lose. It all depends on the individual doing the program and how their desire and continued motivation to lose and keep the weight off. Hope this helps. : )

I explain it as a higher protein, lower carb meal plan meets Herbalife. They have centers over the US. You go in twice a week and meet one on one with a consultant and they talk about your week and you weigh. They take your measurements once a month and they have weekly cooking classes and education classes. They are a good source of motivation. They call me twice a week to check in as well and send me emails.

The meal plan depends on the individual but basically, I eat a protein and low cal carb for breakfast, lean meat, veggies and fruit for lunch, and for dinner lean meat, veggies and a carb. You can have red meat twice a week but it's not reccomended more than that.

With each meal you also drink their protein drink. It's not a shake. It's a little flavored packet similar to crystal light that you add to water. They are good. The herbal products that help with appetite and burning fat, etc are all optional. So far it's working for me. 12 lbs down and 35.5 inches head to toe. I have lots of personal friends and coworkers who have had success.

The nice thing about it is that you are learning how to eat better and cook healtheir foods. I'm not even allowing myself to call it a diet. I hate that word.

As I lose weight, my meal plan will change. A friend of mine who has reached her goal is starting to add back more carbs and dairy and fruit. They help you even after you reach your goal.

Hope that helps. They have a website and they are on facebook if you want to check them out.

But it is true - it all depends on the person and what you make of it.

Hi I was looking up to see if anyone on myfitnesspal was on the MRC diet. I'm glad to have found you Kristyar and the few others here that have tried the program. I've been on the program since Sept. 13, 2012, so just a month, and I've lost about 12 pounds so far. And about 7 inches. I am on the main diet they offer and still on level 1. I actually won 17 weeks of the program at an event our our local Civic Center. It felt like an answer to a prayer I had just sent for help and motivation. Though the program is free for me I still have to pay for the protein drinks and I also bought their beginner package (the bigger of the two, which includes different suppliments such as multi vitamins, vitamin D3, an internal cleanse, Calcium Magnesium, as well as 5 boxes of the different protein packets that you are to take 3 times a day with meals). I also got the fruit and veggie fiber, and pill that helps with your salt and sugar cravings. I think this is all working for me. However I do feel that the program is very expensive but I'm afraid if I don't continue to buy the suppliements that I may regain the weight. I'm retired and 59 yrs. old and need to lose according to the counselors at MRC a total of 58 pounds from my start weight to the goal they set for me of 145. I just wish it wasn't so expensive, but on the other hand, if I get to my goal weight maybe I'll have a chance to get off of my blood pressure meds, and my cholestral meds, which would save me a lot of money in the long run. Also having the weight off of me will take the pressure off of my bad knees, hips, and lower back. To be out of pain and have more energy is my main goal. Tomorrow I weigh in and I just got back from a weeks vacation at the beach. I weighted myself when I got back home on my scale and I was down 1.5 after being on vacation that's a first for me (to lose while on vacation), but I kept basically to my plan, though I had a few treats, I made up for it with extra walking. One of the things I think has helped me the most is the pill that I take for the salt and sugar cravings. I really haven't had to much desire for salt or sugar, and already my ankles and hands are no longer swollen, and my stomack is not bloated. Drinking about 10 , 8oz glasses of water a day is also a big help. My councelor said we are allowed to use any of the Walden Farm products and I tried a few of there salad dressings and they are not bad. They have a web site, but they also have a few products in the supermarkets in my town. Like you said Kristyar I am learning how to eat right and this is the first program that I feel is a life style not a temporary fix. I just may have to find a job to pay for it all. ;-)
  • I heard about MRC from my sister. She used MRC to lose weight, but there's no center in my area.
