I have had two kiddos and have awful stretch marks. I have been working out and eating good and I am determined to get my old body back. The thing is it won't be my old body with the stretch marks. How do all you ladies feel that have this problem. Does it discourage you?

I was seriously just thinking about this earlier this week. I have lots of stretch marks, legs, arms, boobs, tummy...I got HUGE with my pregnancy. With all the work I am doing to get my body back it make me sad to know that I will likely always have these ugly stretch marks :( My sister gave me some lotion from Avon that says it helps lessen the look of them so i'm going to try that...here's to hoping it works!

Most of mine are on my tummy and a few on my legs.. my husband says "you'll be wearing a bikini in no time" I said "yeah right not with these ugly things"
I see some girls that lost weight and theirs actually don't look that bad..but most of them have a six pack anyway. I don't know maybe I am overreacting!

  • I have a deal of stretch marks from being overweight, I know it's not the same, but I saw someone say that they're like scars, they're proof of what you went through, be proud of them. On the other hand, haha, I think for some people it bounces back and other it doesn't, every person is different. Just keep working out, tone up, building muscle will help. Also , using vitamin E and cocoa butter can help reduce marks in some cases, ditto with using sugar scrubs in the shower, which can encourage new cell growth. But like I said, everyone is different, good luck!

On facebook the other day there was a post w/ a picture of a girl in a bikini w/ stretch marks. The quote was something about earning her tiger stripes!
I'm going this route. Mine are terrible though, so I might feel different if they were. I just hope I can look good in a bikini again some day.

Wear them proudly. My stretch marks are a badge of honor for what my body went through to grow my two beautiful children.

I have plenty of stretch marks on my abdomen too. I carried so low with both my pregnancies that people off the street would ask if I was having twins during the eighth and nine month mark. It's very discouraging to me because I know that even when I get to my goal weight, I'm going to have loose skin. That's the part that gives it away--the puckered, flaccid skin. If your skin is tight, you could use waterproof primers and concealers to cover the scars and no one would really notice. Ah, the bikini thread! It was so motivational, but I noticed that no one besides the OP had stretch marks with loose skin.

I know EXACTLY how you all feel. When I first had my daughter it was the worst!!! But over the YEARS they have faded and are still noticable. I have tried Strivectin which did help a little, and mederma stretch mark creme which also helped LIGHTEN but not erase the marks. I have even tried home remedies that cause for exfoliating the surface with apricot scrubs, sugar, ...omg you name it I've tried it!

Now a days I feel differently about my body in some ways I feel like I was cursed for always flaunting my midriff throughout my younger years. HAHAHA But i've come to terms with my body and accept that I have it and it aint gonna change. Not unless of course I inherit a million dollars and can afford MAJOR plactic Surgery! haha I dont foresee that happening any time soon.

I am lucky that my husband appreciates my "battle scars" and loves me for me! I dont mind wearing bikini's in the privacy of our own pool which is nice but when im in public I have a few alternatives to bikinis. Monokinis, Tankinis, and Cute cover ups.

Thanks for all your replies & support ladies. I appreciate it. I am sure in time when I start seeing a difference in my body I may come to terms with them. :)

I have them on my sides and under my boobs from when they became very engorged during pregnancy....i said "There goes my career as a topless waitress"...hahahhaa....Honestly...I think we are SO much more critical of ourselves....I think my sister looks amazing in a bikini and she's had 3 kids, yet she refuses to wear one because she said she has SO many stretchmarks...in my head I think I have WAY more than her?!?!?! We are SO critical of ourselves..I have decided to lose weight, be happy about it and enjoy life...IF i feel comfortable enough to be in a bikini again...awesome...if not, no worries, I have a gorgeous daughter and if wearing a 1 piece is the one "downside", I'm totally ok with that..besides, there are SOOOO many hot 1 piece swimsuits these days....I don't feel like I'm losing out....
  • I have stretch marks across my abdomen from my two babies. I do not consider them battle scars. Being pregnant isn't a battle it is a blessing. Scars, however, are not a blessing.
I am working hard to lose my excess weight, but I want surgery to take the scars away, but then won't that leave a scar too? Just thinking about it makes me sad.

I agree, I use rosehip oil on mine, but I dont want them to go away completely, I earnt them with hard work

You can choose everything in life, you can choose how to feel about them, hate them or accept them, but in the end only you will be affected by the decision
