  • That is my bad snacking time too, after all my kids are in bed. I try to "save" 300 calories for that time. I;ve also taken up crocheting to keep my hands busy.

Stay busy! I mentally "close" the kitchen at night, about 2 hours before bedtime. The only thing I allow myself is water. Watching TV is the worst! All those commercials make me want to eat and eat!
I find putting post-its with reasons for weight-loss and not eating junk around the kitchen, especially on those snacky foods I go to when bored, helps too. I also have "fat" pictures of myself on my fridge to keep me from digging in there for food too. It really works!
  • i dont think i will start crocheting but i understand the idea behind it and i like the ideas of the fat pics thanks for the advice

I chew sugar free gum. You can get them in all kinds of flavors now, not just cinnamon and mint. It keeps my mouth busy! Also, once I brush my teeth at night I dont eat, so if I find Im fighting the urge to eat I will brush my teeth even if Im not ready for bed. It kind of signals my brain that its not time to eat anymore, lol.
  • If you feel like you just *have* to snack, make your choices healthier, such as sugar snap peas, carrots, or cucumbers. If you really want something more "snacky" try Jolly Time 94% Fat Free pop corn :)

Have good snacks at the ready - celery sticks and carrots ready to eat, makes it easier to grab them for your snack. If you have to prepare them, you are less likely to eat the good stuff.

That or you could spend that time prepping foods for the next day. That way you are spending time working with the good for you foods already, so if you do have a nibble, it will hopefully be of something healthy.

Last idea - do some working out while watching TV, then have a protein shake made with some type of milk (the milk fills me up more than using water does).

Try using Crystal Light Hunger Satisfaction and shake it in a 16 oz. bottle of water and CHUG IT. It will give you a feeling of satiety. If that doesnt work, eat a handful of saltine crackers. There you go...something salty and sweet!
  • thanks for the great ideas i will start trying them tonight in a few hours the weekends are not as bad because my son stays up late and keeps me busy
