BE PREPARED.
The workouts are NUTS!0 -
I'm on week 2... do extra calf stretches the first week... you'll see what I mean :P also take warm baths to massage your muscles as much as possible. Also have extra protein in your diet!0

It is hard but keep doing it and you will be successful, after that you can do Asylum! good luck, have fun and do your best.0

I'm starting this weekend so that's for the helpful tips.0

Protect your knees and back. Make sure your footwear has alot of absorption as you will be doing alot of jumps.0

Dont be afraid to stop and take a break.....Shaun T will say it more than once.....just keep at it. You will be sweating alot so drink lots of water before during and after. If you dont want aching muscles.....Stretch Stretch Stretch. Stretching is so important that im going to start adding in some yoga after my workouts just to have an extra stretch.0

Month two is when the "Insanity" really begins!! Lots of the people in the Dvd's are taking breaks, so do not feel upset if you have to.0

I'm not sure if it's just me but Asylum seems easier than the regular Insanity.
There are less jumping around (source of me panting most of the time).
In Strength, Back to the core, and relief, they have very little jump movements.
GameDay is awesome though! Incorporating all those sports movements make it fun.
For tips ya ...
protect your knees. Seriously. I was out for months due to knee injuries sustained from Insanity! Land wider for female. You really do not want to land too quickly. I would spread my legs out wider during landing.0 -
I like Asylum 100% more than I like normal Insanity. It is up there wih P90Xon my all time fav list.0

As others have said before me, don't be afraid to modify the routine. I didn't have enough strength to keep up the first time. I actually went through two round ones before going into the second half. Drink plenty of water, stretch, and get a HRM if you can. That really helped me to push myself when I slowed down, or slow down when I pushed myself too hard. You won't regret it. I've already lost 14 pounds with it. Now I'm doing a hybrid Insanity/CLX workout. Good luck!0

i finished the entire 60 days a couple weeks ago. omg i am in the best shape of my life. i dont have the best body ever but surely i have a lot of resistance. my PE grades got so much better. i used to run the mile in 11 minutes and now i do it in 8. thats a lot! even my teacher was surprised how i got better in such little time. oh well, you wont regret it, sometimes you will need a little motivation expecially in month 2 since the workouts are SO HARD, but in the end it will be SO WORTH IT! good luck!0

Gosh, I LOVE insanity...best program ever and best choice i ever made in my life...well worth it!!
I still do it, on round 3 now just because I can't get enough!
anyways, you have to MENTALLY want it bad enough. there are days you're gonna wanna give up or "skip it" but keep pressing play. the key is to follow the calendar. and make sure you are eating enough of the RIGHT foods.a breakfast high in protein is good. After my workouts, I drink a whey protein shake (one scoop since i'm a female) from GNC. Month 2 is the hardest by far, but keep it up. you'll see results NO DOUBT. Stay hydrated, drink more water than you do now because you are going to sweat a whole lot.
Feel free to add meI can help motivate ya or give you other insanity tips if you have questions, etc

Sorry didn't have access to this for a couple days but thank you so much for the responses. Did I mention I set my quit smoking date to line up with Insanity? lol
Yes, I have a HRM...bought it specifically for this. I won't be following their meal plan exactly, but I already eat pretty similar. Getting my protein up is a bit of a challenge b/c I don't eat much meat.
I have to tweak the calendar just a little bit b/c my rest days will be Mondays due to being at work all day and then class all night. That works out so well though bc I do meatless mondays as well. heh protein is always low and hard to eat enough b/c I'm on the go all day it seems.
Thank you again!! :happy:0 -
I just started Month 2 today. It's a great program. Find a time that works for you and make that time dedicated to Insanity. Push through each workout and don't be afraid to take breaks. Shaun T. says that often, and you will see many of the people on the video taking breaks. THAT's OK! By the end of the first month, I still couldn't do all of some of the workouts. However, it makes you feel great and that you are really accomplishing something. Good luck! : )0

After you graduate from Insanity, you can move to Insanity: The Asylum!!!!!
Good luck and keep us posted on your results!0 -
Pain...lots and lots of pain. Okay, it will kick your *kitten* the first month and then kick it even harder the second. Do your best with the fit test so you can drive yourself to improve with each subsequent. Don't be afraid to go at your own pace. Shaun and his cohorts are already in awesome shape. Take your measurements and pictures before so you can do the same after and see the changes. Have lots of water and a towel on hand. Be prepared to cry!0
