Good moring! We are going on vacation in the Santa Cruz / Monterey, Coastal CA area in a week. Any suggestions for yummy local food that won't send my weight in the wrong direction? Also, feel free to add me as a friend if you want another!! Thank you very much!!

I live in between the two. I'm Vegan so my recommendations are places that I go that offer food I would eat...

Like everyone says "everything in moderation' but I can recommend the "health" food stores in Santa Cruz as great places to grab a bite to eat, New Leaf (there are three in SC) Staff Of LIfe on Soquel Ave; all have LOTS of amazing prepared food. If you crave some AMAAAAAZING salsa and guac get the locally made Robertos brand. The best I have ever had!

I think Dharma's in Capitola is OK, it's vegetarian, and they have a ton of options. I usually get their Breakfast Burrito or if I'm feeling like a treat I'll get the Nuclear Bluff and split it with the husband.

Saturn Cafe on Pacific is a all vegetarian place and I haaaate the reasturant, but the food is actually good and they have a really fun selection.

Cafe Campesino on Pacific is a food stall, with wonderful out door eating areas, I love their spicy guacamole!

Verve Coffee Roasters in Capitola for coffee.

Zameen Mediterranean Cuisine in Aptos is great.

Acme Coffee Roasting in Seaside is makes REALLY good coffee, their Mexican Mocha is yummy!

You have to spend some time in Carmel by the Sea, try Dametra Cafe, the experience is amazing!

    :)
