I always doubt myself

I start 30 Day Shred tomorrow, and already I'm having these negative "you can't do it. you won't see results. you won't succeed," thoughts rushing into my mind. And of course, when I start thinking these thoughts, then I start debating if doing it is even worth it.

I hate how my brain works!! I know I HAVE to do this...and I will. But I wish I had a more positive attitude. :-/

  • Sometimes its hard, but you have to dig down deep and want it real bad. I promise you the rewards you get are well worth the effort!!!
  • We're here for you, I'm sure you can add us all to friends list. I'm burning 1200-1500 Calories a day and its hard, but I'm sticking with it. You can do it too.

    Thought: "But it's too hard!"
Response Thought: "That's okay, I can do hard things."

Thought: "But there's no guarantee of results!"
Response Thought: "Doesn't matter; I'm going to do it anyway."

Thought: "I'm going to give up in a few days anyway."
Response Thought: "I am who I decide to be today, and I decide to be disciplined and strong."

    Thought: "It's hopeless."
Response Thought: "It's only hopeless if I stop trying."

Also, find some favorite mottos and repeat them for yourself!

You'll never get the bum you want by sitting on the one you have.
The pain of regret is always worse than the pain of effort.
Which is harder: Thirty minutes of effort or feeling fat and lazy?

Lots of other good ones around the site (-: Best wishes!
  • So much great feedback for you here!

I wanted to post because I thought the same thing this week. I started seeing a new shrink whom I chose because she specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Of course the first thing she asked me to do was not worry about emotions for two weeks and make a small change to one behavior. It was to do 20 minutes of not hard but still cardio exercise 3x this week. Behavior becomes thoughts and patterns and thus life. In this way, behavior is medicine. Even though THIS IS WHY I SOUGHT HER OUT, my first response was fear of failing, which implies I was doubting myself and expecting failure. This is when she told me not to worry about emotions for two weeks (still not sure what that means, but it gave me some kind of excuse to put them on the back burner). I had to think of a reason why I WANT to do the behavior and approach it from there, instead of from a "should". I also read in a fitness magazine to predict success because the opposite works, unfortunately. So I predicted I would do it and I thought of it as medicine instead of something I didn't want to do. So far this week it's been working for me! I don't mean to tell you my life story but to give you some things that have been going on for me in a similar situation in case something in here resonates with you. I DON'T doubt that you CAN do it! I mean it!
