Slimmer Legs

I am terribly frustrated with the fact that I carry a lot of weight in my upper legs. My waist is shrinking from watching my eating and I run 3 - 4 days a week for a minimum of 3 miles each time at a 10 minute pace. I've been running for 3 years now and I thought that would change my legs. It did a little but it seems like I still can't slim them down.
This is really depressing to me and I really need some help and advice! Anyone out there know something to help?

Sadly no. You can't spot reduce. You can try other exercises as well to challenge your body. Maybe like spinning or Insanity. My legs aren't small but I like the look of muscle rather than skinny.0

I'd give the stationary bike a go. I've been using mine for about 6 weeks now and I'm really starting to notice my legs looking a lot more toned......just a thought0

I have the same problem and its especially annoying as one of my goals is to feel good in shorts... I have noticed a little bit of difference in my legs but nowhere near as much as the rest of my body. I guess I'm just going to get to them last whether I like it or not!0

Try hiking?0

I have the same problem. I have a long torso (short legs) and a pear build that puts most of my weigh squarely on my thighs and hips. Whenever I shop for pants, I have to buy a belt, because the waist is too big if my thighs fit in the pants. In my experience, Pilates exercises helped me a lot because they stretched my legs out and made them appear longer. It's also great for that lean muscle mass and is much lower impact than running. However, it doesn't burn as many calories, so you might want to try it as a warm up and then run for a short time afterwards. While I'm never going to be Vera-Ellen, I have smaller thighs than I used too.0

It's called weights..I suggest you start lifting them.
Squats, lunges, leg press.. all will help shape the thigh area.
Running is great and all, but all you are doing is burning fat and muscle.... you need some weights to balance it out and help keep what muscle you already do have and hopefully build some more.0 -
I do barre workouts every day, and I've noticed a MAJOR change in my legs. They look slimmer to me, and my pants are fitting better in the thighs. Not only that, but I can see they're toning up. You should look into it!0

Thank you all for the suggestions. I feel empowered to keep going and try some new things to switch it up.0

You could also add a day of HIIT Sprints AKA Wind Sprints. That will build up the leg muscles and you will improve in speed and power.0 -

I have recently started adding these once a week in my 3 mile runs. I can tell you that my legs are starting to shape nicely!0 -
