Did anyone try pure oil coconut?

hello there;
I'm considering introducing pure oil coconut in my life. I've heard wonderful things about it. Among other benefits, Healthy magazines say that it helps to burn fat during exercises and it also makes you feel satisfied when it is about food.
One spoon has 90 calories and I'm supposed to get twice a day before main meals.
Did you anyone try it?

I have been using it for a few years and love it!! I use it as a pre-wash conditioner for my hair, I use it directly on my skin, I use it as an additive in my home made soap, and I fry/saute with it, and I eat it directly! Oh....and my dogs love a spoonful on their food or as a treat! :glasses:0

i use it too, but do not eat it often. I brush my teeth with it, use it as a moisturizer, and cook sometimes with it. I love it.0

I didn't know I could use it for beauty. Good idea! TKS0

Let me know how it goes.

I bought a jar of nutiva organic coconut oil when Amazon had a great sale. We used it once, no one ate the food made with it and I gave the rest away on freecycle. The lady was very happy to get it. So, maybe it just wasn't for us.0

Does it give food a cononut-y taste? I'd love to try it but don't really want my stir frys tasting like coconut lol0

I have been usingit for 30 years. I rub it on my skin, rub it on my dog's nose, as he gets "snow nose" & he also licks it up off the floor. I haven't tried cooking with it, because I used to hear it was a "bad" oil but now I am reconsidering. You can get a huge jar of it a Wal-Mart for much cheaper than anywhere else.0

I JUST saw this article...

And thought, I better start using this stuff... Before I forget0 -

Not to me. I've sauteed veggies with it, eaten a teaspoon of it, put it in smoothies, used i on hair, skin, added to shampoo, etc. Major benefits. I read something that suggested mixing equal parts coconut oil and real butter for easy spreadability and added health benefits ( if you like it on muffins, bagels and such).0 -
It's supposed to boost metabolism due to the medium chain triglycerides.0

Everyone is telling so many benefits: Alzeihmer, cholesterol and good even for dogs lol
Definitelly, i'm gonna give a try.0 -
I do know that at whole foods the employee recommended different ones for different uses. Some are more pure but do have a coconut taste. I loved it that my eggs tasted like coconut, others didn't. They do have some of the more filtered coconut oil that does not put taste in your food. I had bought both and used whichever one I was in the mood for. So be sure to ask which is which because I can't remember by brand.0

I tried it this week because I got this email that said it was great for many health issues. I used it to replace the oil in carrot cake, and it was great.0

I use it when i do eggs. I don't think the eggs taste like coconut. vitacost.com has some good stuff.0

I use it on my hair (having a bad hair life, I tell ya! this helps a bit.) I use it on my skin and it seems to help keep inflammation down. I use a teaspoon of it on beans and rice when we have that. It isn't a strong flavor at all, but is pleasant in the mouth and makes the beans and wild rice so much more palatable.0

I used it for awhile, one thing that bothered me was the fact that it was solid most of the time, eating it in it's solid state was unappetizing to me. But I think, I will get some for use in cooking, etc.0

it gives a very mild coconut flavor. i mostly use with eggs and it is wonderful. i use it almost every morning and i too use it on my hands and lips.0 -
I don't like coconut *flavored* things, but I LOVE coconut oil. I buy from Hyvee, Spectrum unrefined coconut oil. I recently bought a new (to me) kind from Trader Joe's because it was about half the price but I haven't tried it yet.
I use it anytime I cook in a skillet, really. Usually with eggs or stir fry. Doesn't make your food taste like anything it's not suppose to. It's a healthy fat, like avocados. But I wouldn't snack on it all day or go crazy with it... the calories still add up.
I don't think I'd use it on my skin. Or hair. But more power if it works for you.0 -
I read that the Extra Virgin Cold Processed Coconut oil is a healthy Fat but to reap the benefits, you need to take cod-liver oil or gel caps to get the Omega-3's, vitamin A and D so that the cells can use it correctly.
This concept is very well flushed out in the Eat Fat Loose Fat book.
...Is anyone interested in joining a new group for Eat Fat Loose Fat to discuss and support those of us who are tired of the same old USDA nonsense that got us here to begin with? I recently read this book and watched a netflix movie on the same topic and I am just starting out on this lifestyle along with my wife and I would like to host or find a group like this. If you are interested let me know, I need three names to start the group...OR tell me if there is one already.0 -

There are 2 types, refined and unrefined. The refined is pretty taste neutral. The unrefined tastes coconut-y (love that word!).
It contains medium chain fatty acids which are great for you. I use it every morning in Bullet Proof Coffee. This is a beverage from the website Bullet Proof Executive. Brew a good, fresh organic coffee, blend in a blender with 2 tablespoons of "unsalted" butter and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. A great tasting frothy substantial drink that will give you energy and hold you until luch easily. The guy that invented it uses MCT(Medium Chain Triglyceride) oil. He says it's better. I haven't tried it with that yet. I use the refined as I'm not nuts about coconut-y  flavor.0 -
I often put a spoonful of coconut oil in my tea, i use it 50/50 with butter when cooking, i spread it on toast on the rare occasions i have some, and i've been known to eat a bit straight from the jar.
I think it has helped my complexion and my hair, but not so much with weight loss. It's better than any of the totally processed fats, though.0 -
This is very interesting. Ill check back later for more posts x0

Does it taste bad?
It gave the meal a decidedly coconuty taste. And while I love coconut, it was super strange in my food.0 -
I use it all the time for frying and making chocolate ..it does give me more energy but have not noticed any weightloss from it0
