I'm tossing around an idea that Jillian Michaels touts on biggest loser.
I already eat lots of calories on weekends. that is just something I have to do for myself...in order to just live a normal balanced life. I'm quite done with extreme diets and worrying about every morsel to cross my lips.
Anyhoo...thinking about low 1200 one day, 1800 the next, 1300, 1900, etc. and then maintanence on weekends.
Anyone like to experiement with me?
I also work out in intervals, so this seems like a good addition to me. I am thinking I'm already doing it to some degree...I dont' eat the exact same calories each day. and I've been slimming just fine...

Anyone?

i would also like to know the answer to this just because i feel like it wouldn't work. i feel like it might mess up your metabolism, but i want to know, cause i could benefit from a lifestyle of such!

I could try this for a week or two and see how it goes. I need something to shake up this body of mine. My top half looks great getting all firm and nice my bottom half looks like it belongs to a totally different person. :grumble: So anything to shake things up. I do Chalean E and run and bike ride.

Are you starting tomorrow? What are the cal pattern you are going to work with? I am doing a low carb high protein for 6 days will be finished on Tuesday with that.

I really don't see how this would mess up the metab...I really think it's GREAT for it! then your body doesn't adjust to any given amount, making everything slow down.
I have done this to myself in the past. I ate low cal, lost a bit of weight...kept eating low cal, and was shocked when the weight started coming back on...even though I was hardly eating! But my metab had adjusted to how little I was eating and TRYING to hold on to the fat! and it suceeded. I gave up on diets forever...
but this, I think this is a great idea.

this was discussed yesterday, its called zig zagging adn it is supposed to help with weight loss because your body doesn't get used to a set standard each day, therefore, no plateaues.

I am going all out this month trying something new for myself but I am very interested to see how all of you do! :drinker:

Funny, there's a big article on the how to's of carb cycling in this months issue of OnFitness magazine. It goes through the whole why, how and when of it. It might be worth picking up.

it gives you calorie ideas for cycling. it looks great! other than at least one day on teh weekend for me is going to be way higher...higher even than maintenance if I so choose.
    BUT...it's a good little tool,
I'm going to start trying it out monday...

I tend to just naturally zig zag my calories... if I eat a lot one day, the next I'm not so hungry... etc. I am not currently trying to lose weight, I've been maintaining for a couple years and it seems to work well. My metabolism is always guessing!
