Can you use it without the chest strap?

You need the chest strap if you want to get your heart rate/calories burned. I have the FT7.0

Don't even think about getting an HRM without a chest strap.... they are no where near as accurate as ones that have a chest strap.0 -

i have recently got a f4 and no you cannot wear this watch without the chest strap hope this helps0

Nope, you can't. But I recommend getting one with a chest strap, they're far more accurate.
Also, if the strap is something you're worried about, they do actually make sports bras with the sensors built in, and you just clip the transmitter into the bra. I haven't tried one myself but they look pretty promising.
