Close to your goal

I am about 10-12 lbs away from my goal weight and am having the hardest time losing the weight. I do turbo jam about 5 days a week and try to stay between 1200 to 1300 calories a day. Rarely do I go over or under these amounts. I am 5' 2" and 25 years old. I was wondering if others did anything differently once they got close to their goals to help them along?

From all that I have been reading just in the past couple of days (on this site), I think that you need to up your
calories. It sounds like you are too far below your calorie count. All of the links at the top of the list can help you to
understand this. I started a challenge two weeks ago and now realize that I was not eating my exercise calories
and this causes your body to hold on. Especially when you are so close to your goal weight I think. I only need
to lose five or six pounds on this 28 day challenge and I have learned that I have to take in more calories or my
body won't respond.0 -
Try eating a few hundred calories more. Turbo Jam burns A LOT of calories... make sure you are eating those calories. You may have slowed down your metabolism by not eating enough.
Also, at the top of this forum there is the thread labeled "Newbies Please Read me (2nd Edition)." Within that thread is a link to another thread about expectations and it lays out the phases of weight loss. Those last few pounds are the most difficult to lose, but if you stick to it, it is possible. Congrats on being so close to the end.
I'd also consider giving a new workout a try if you've been doing TJ for a long time now. Your body adapts to what you do, and it may have adjusted to the extra calories burned. Consider Turbo Fire (which is similar but more difficult). I did it and LOVED it!!0 -
eat your exercise calories!0

Set your calorie allowance to maintenence, and then make sure you dont have a calorie deficit of over 500 cals a day. Your body sees your current weight as "healthy" and doesnt want to drop the "vanity" pounds. So you have to kind of sneak the last few pounds past without your body thinking its going into a period of starvation. This really worked for me. The last few pounds dont come off quickly, but they can be done!!0

Wealth of knowledge in this thread for those close to their goal. Long but a worthy read.

eat more!
also, vary your work-out routine, mix it up a bit so your body doesn't know what to expect. try eating 1800 cal one day (of healthy foods) and then 1500 the next day. 1200 the following day, and so on. keep your body guessing, and eat those exercise calories! (at least some of them!)0 -
Thanks everyone for your replys! I did forget to mention that I do eat back at least half of my exercise calories somedays I'm just not hungry enough to eat all of them. I will try upping my calorie intake and see how it goes.0
