if you need protein but you dont want to eat a whole piece of chicken or fish i always go with nuts: peanuts, almonds, etc. they taste amazing are a perfect for a small protein snack.
in addition i love greek yogurt, especially chobani, and there is tons of protein in greek yogurt.
hope this helps you out a little bit0 -
Sounds like you're off to a great start, congrats! You must be doing something right. As far as food goes you want to stick with fresh produce, lean protein: chicken/fish, incorporate healthy fats such as avacado/nuts but in moderation. Stay away from anything prepackaged including frozen meals even lean cuisine. They are rediculously high in sodium. Just because it says lowfat does not mean its good for you. A good way to remember it is just about everything around the outer perimeter of a grocery store is a green light (fresh) anything within the center aisle (pre packaged/boxed meals & cereal = red light) try to stay away from those things as much as possible. Condiments can make or break your diet so use spices, salsa, mustard, hotsauce (all good options) to give your meals flavor rather than ketchup, mayo, sourcream etc.. which add uneccesary calories and fat. And most importantly drink at least 2 liters (8 cups) of water a day. Hope that helps!

Eat whatever you like and whatever fits into your calorie and nutrition goals for the day. Planning at least one day ahead helps.
That said, there's a (new?) website making the rounds lately, which produces meal plans based on some parameters. It might be helpful: http://swole.me/0 -
Good: the healthiest and lowest calorie foods that you can envision yourself continuing to eat for the rest of your life.
Bad: automobiles, rocks, clothing, and anything people tell you to eat that you hate, even if it's "just until you get to your goal weight."
This should be a life change, not a lifestyle change, and you need to make it last.
Since you've just started, and are achieving some success, stay with it, and get a lot of friends whose diaries are open, and when your weight loss slows down ( and it will) you can view some new options as you fine-tune your diet.
You've found a great resource here; keep tracking!0 -
Now a lot of people tell me not to eat a lot of fruit but eat more protein, but this program doesn't allow much protein, should I eat more fruit or not?0

By "this program" are you referring to MFP? The protein default on MFP is quite, quite low. Feel free to increase it, significantly.

"If it didnt come from the ground or have a mother, then dont eat it!" A bit extreme, but you get the idea. Try to eat as "clean" as possible, and stay away from processed foods as much as possible. Protein is good for building and repairing muscle as well as hair growth etc. Carbs are also good for energy so dont cut them out. Protein and crabs have the same cals per gram, but fats are higher. Eat natural fats like avacardo, olive oil etc. Stay away from trans fats, MSG, high fructose corn syrup.0
