Right so I love to get alot of protein in at breakfast. makes me feel good all day and gives me alot of energy... well... I've come up with a silly thing to eat but my hubby doesn't think it's healthy even though I've plugged it into the food tracker here and it's only like 300 Calories... I use the 1 cal cooking spray in a pan and cook two eggs that I pop the yoke on. I then put about 100g of honey roast ham in the skillet and cook that untill it starts to brown. I put down a layer of the ham, a slice of cheese, the two eggs and finally anouther layer of ham. That can kind of roll up nicely in almost a sandwich or wrap like thing (only without the bread).

so... am I thinking it's healthier then it is? he says I'm frying it so it can't be... but he uses oil to fry and i used one spray of the cooking stuff that's only 1 Cal.... with a nice hot cup of tea it comes out to 306 Cal, 3 Carb, 16 fat (yeah... little high there I know), and 46 protein.

what is your guy's thoughts? good breakfast or I might want to cut it out?

    looks great to me!
I wish I could eat like that, unfortunately my stomach only likes protein if it comes along with lots of carbs...

Sounds almost exactly like mine, but I have all stacked up:

    Wholegrain toast
    Vegemite spread (aussie thing)
    A Slice of cheese
    A fried egg
    A large slice of tomato
Topped with either turkey bacon, turkey link, pork link or whatever other meat is available.

Fantastic breakfast and better than cereal or fruit to start the day!

Good way to get in your protein! Don't be afraid of fat. Cals aren't excessive. As long as this fits in with whatever else you eat in a day (fits your macros) then it seems fine.

    Sounds delicious to me.

I usually have a bowl of Special K because I can't be bothered to cook first thing in the morning.

Might try your idea for lunch though!

I think that sounds lovely and i might get a bit more experimental with breakfast as I know a decent one can make me last until lunch without snacking.....

Frying does NOT automatically cancel out nutritional values of food. Frying Eggs is perfectly okay especially without the extra oils. Those stats are just fine and those stats are NOT too high.

I take hubby is a tad chubby?

Awesome breakfast. Gotta try that one. One thing to watch is the sodium content of the ham though.

Sounds good to me. I often have a couple of slices of ham and a hardboiled egg for breakfast - it is a good way to get some protein in early.

Thanks! surprisingly he's not... just a bit of a belly tub. but he fries in loads of oils! XD he's one of those guys that can eat anything and keep the weight off. he's very supportive though and I know he was just trying to help but I thought he was wrong in this case (and he's almost always right! ) so that's why I posted for a bit of help :P

I don't think you're crazy. I love having two "fried" eggs and Canadian bacon on the weekends but I just use a non-stick skillet with nothing and it's fine. I've been going over my recommended protein amounts lately, but I've read that MFP is a little low on the recommended amount so it's ok to go over on protein as long as it's lower in fat or at least the good fat like fish.
  • The only thing that makes it seem unhealthy to me is the sodium. Ham especially if it's lunch meat style is very high in sodium. Other then that sounds yummy, I would try it myself if I liked ham.

On weekends when I have more time I eat a poached egg (sometimes 2) on top of browned ham.
I cover it w/ faux hollandaise:

About 4-6 TBSP no fat plain greek yogurt in a double boiler with juice from half a lemon, dash salt, dash cayene pepper.

    Side of strawberries.
    Half cup skim milk
    coffee
    From memory about 275-300 calories

Nothing wrong with it as far as I can see. I personally wouldn't eat it everyday but I always have a "big" breakfast like this at least once or twice a week.

It's not that bad, unless you're eating lots of protein the rest of the day too and not working out like a maniac. Excess protein will turn to fat too, and you're basically eating all you need for your entire day in one meal unless you're a powerlifter. You might want to switch it to one egg or less ham and add veggies like spinach to bulk up your breakfast, so you can have more protein later in the day.
