I am toying with the idea of buying a ice cream/frozen yogurt maker for summer time. Plus I love frozen yogurt as my treat. So basically I am wondering if anyone has experience with just dumping a container of greek yogurt in the ice cream maker? Does that work, or do you have to mix a whole recipe of ingredients? Dumping a single serving of yogurt in the ice cream maker and having a single serving of frozen yogurt would be convenient. I would be less likely to use an ice cream maker if I have to buy and mix several ingredients every time.

  • I use greek yogurt (plain or vanilla) and frozen fruit in my ninja and it makes a nice frosty treat. Never tried it with an ice cream maker, just the little food processor though.

I have the kind of ice cream maker that you freeze the one part and once frozen I just dump the vanilla flavoured yogurt into it, assemble and turn it on. Takes about ten minutes (I just eat it like soft ice cream). You need to get the iced yogurt out sooner rather than later or it freezes to the sides.
I also take frozen raspberries (or any kind of berries) and just put them and some yogurt from the fridge into my Vitamix for instant frozen goodness.
Actually you can just use frozen bananas and cocoa powder (a hint of agave) in the blender to get a non dairy tasty treat.

    Hope that helps.
