i need help. i am on my 6th month of eating better and exercising. i have been dropping 1-2 pounds a week as planned, although there have been weeks that werent as great as others. since the beginning of june, i have not dropped! i have gone up and down with in 3 pounds. i have tried eating more calories on a couple of days (which is something i read on another thread). i have not cut back further because this site has my calories at 1270, not much room to cut back without going under 1200. i usually get alot of cardio in 5 days a week (biking 30 minutes and hiking 45). this month i added in a toning video 2 times a week for 60 minutes. nothing! it doesnt seem like i can possibly get in any more exercise or cut calories any further. i have noticed an inch or 2 this month, but this number is killing me. :grumble: please advise.

I have just been through this agony. I spoke to a nutritionist who said to eat 5 - 6 small meals a day. Avoid processed sugar and get any sugar from fruits. Drink lots of water. Change up what you are eating.
With your exercise, change that up. The same old routine gets boring after a while anyhow. I started with a personal trainer who kicked my butt.
That all being said, plateaus are a normal part of weight loss. Your body wants homeostasis ( things to stay the same) and you are trying to change things. Be persistent, don't give up and this will pass soon. It just feels like a heck of a long time while you are going through it.0 -
this is normal. drink a lot of water and also try cutting your carbs. so say 40% of your intake was carbs try cutting it down to 30% or even 25%0

Agreed, switch up your food intake and your exercise. Your body can adjust to certain workouts and foods and can plateau. Also, definitely cut back on your sodium. Someone posted a thread on here from Jilian Michaels on how to lose the last 10 lbs and I remember it saying to cut down on your sodium by 1,000mg.0 -
With so much exercise it could also be that you are building muscle which weighs more than fat does. So in essence you could be slimming down but remaining the same weight because the fat is being replaced with muscle.0

Sounds like me earlier this year - try changing your exercise - I added in jogging and started losing again....add in some more intensity to you workouts - walk 90 seconds while hiking then jog 60 if you can - something like that.
1200 wasn't enough calories either - I am now up to 1400 a day and losing consistently. Weird I know eat more and lose - your body needs food for fuel.0 -
thanks for all the advice, i will try it all. i have come way too far to give up this time. i did notice that i havent been having as much water as i was before. i had so much today that i think im floating. i also noticed that lately i have been trying not to eat my calories burned so that maybe i will lose quicker. i tried to get some advice on that and didnt hear much about it. before i was taking in around 1500 and consistantly losing. then once i got on here it cut me back but i was eating my calories burned. i got the idea that it would go quicker if i didnt. now maybe thats my whole problem.0
