So this is for everyone who would like a little challenge. At your next Stationary bike workout set it to a goal of 5 miles. Once done let us know how long it took you. Friday 2 pm the winner will be anounced. Lets have fun!

So, I started doing my five miles this morning on the bike and I got SO discouraged! I was going pretty fast and increased the resistance, but my calories burn was MAYBE half of what I do on the ARC (elliptical). I went for about a half mile before I jumped off and went back to my regular cardio. How many calories do you guys burn on average on the bike?0

I find the bike calorie burn pretty low. You definitely need to do intervals to make sure you are getting your heart rate up and burning extra calories (the biggest reason I skip it. Oh and cyclist thighs. :P I already have big quads!)0 -
I did my 5 miles in 20.02 minutes and burned 163 calories.
Way to go Amyla30 your in the lead!
GreekByMarria did you enter your weight in the machine before your workout?0 -

Yes, I entered my weight.
I seemed to average 10 calories in 2 minutes.... on the ARC, in 20 minutes I burn between 190-220 calories depending on how hard I work.0 -
5 miles in 18:08. WOOT!
How many calories did you burn?
454 I do believe!0 -
23:12 for me! First time on the bike in at least 2 years!0

I will do that today.0

Ooh, I'm in! I'll do it later on today. I love my stationary bike, it's given me amazing legs, haha. It is a 2 in 1 elliptical/exercise bike so I like to use the elliptical too but I don't burn as much on it and nowhere near some of the burns I've seen on here, boo!0
-
think I'll do this too. I'll hop on the bike after my weights this evening. Monday it took me 19: some odd min to go 6.
On a lot of these bikes the higher the resistance the "faster" you will go. I was working on Triathlon bricks which means I needed to save some for transitioning to running. But if it's just 5 miles flat out I might bump up the resistance a little. And no, If I was looking for a big calorie burn....this wouldn't be apart of my plan.0 -
5 miles stationary bike race, my time was 9:50. But I ride five days a week, anything from 1 hour and a half to 2 hours.0
-
Came in at 16:03. Maybe next time I'll do it before weights0
-
I'm up for it.0
-
16:05 without any resistance. I'd love to do this weekly if anyone is up to it. I want to eventually increase my resistance.0
-
I know you burn more on eliptical but it is fun to have a different challenge and spice it up, it helps the motivaton to stay healthy!!0
-
Great job everybody! And for those that haven't done it yet you have until tomorow at 2 pm.
I agree with you Sabrina it would be fun to do it weekly. It was a really good motivation.0 -
