I usually use fat free milk, but I see a lot of people use Almond Milk. At the store yesterday I noticed the Almond Milk is lower in calories but higher in fat.

I think it tastes better, and mine is only 35 cals per serving0

I personally don't like the taste of cow's milk. I love the taste of soy and almond milk and they're easier on my stomach. Also, almonds are full of the good kind of fat - I eat raw almonds and drink almond milk because it helps keep my tummy trim!0

What kind do you use?0 -
Silk, Pure Almond Original-35 calories, you should try it, i mainly use it in food like for oatmeal and other things. I actually started cause i read an article that said it would clear up acne, which is has. Great stuff!0

Almond milk is not pure almond milk if you like. Its made with some sort of almond puree and added water.
In a way, hypothetically if say 10g of almonds are mixed with 50ml water. Then it would have all the nutrition of 10g almonds. But fat wise, these would not be bad fats IMHO.0 -
LOVE Almond milk!
Lower Calories
tastes better (to me at least)
Use it in my latte, smoothies, cereal or just having a glass to stave off when I am hungry between meals.0 -
Thanks everyone. I'll pick some up next time I'm at the store. Maybe it will make my bland oatmeal taste better.0

How much is Almond milk in other countires? In the UK its rarely sold, only in health shops and it costs £3.25 a litre, thats over $5 in America just for one lousy litre when a litre of cows milk costs about 50p.0

Almond milk can also be made at home by combining ground almonds with water in a blender.
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almond_milk (no brainer) and you can control your calories by playing with water and almond quanity and it helps if you soak almonds overnight before blending.0 -

Might give that one a go. Nuts seem very expensive in the uk unless there just general salted peanuts0 -

. I just saw a product of holland and barrats (http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product_detail.asp?pid=2638&prodid=3594&cid=459&sid=0&afid=70&safid=AG&scid=14581&cm_mmc=Aggregates-_-Comparisons-_-GoogleProducts-_-HBMVPCGP&of_tid=Zxy1Et-JdozH8Ig9AHjXZoqmeZgDw8sCqLZjm49mSzJa8RKXewZ5XhmTg1V9Dhxx) and the pack said 7% almonds.
well thats 70grams for 1 litre of milk. If you buy 1 kg pack of almonds, it should not cost you £5-£6 for a kg. thats like 40-50p for 70g that gives you 1 lt milk.
But the point is, would you be able to drink this milk without "tapioca starch, natural almond flavouring" or all that extra crap found in packaged milk :laugh:0 -
One additional reason is that there's been a somewhat recent wave of fear-mongering/alarmism towards dairy products with the implication that cows milk is poisonous and that we clearly are not supposed to drink it because cave men didn't.0

Not sure about everyone but at least for the folks I know, they've more recently discovered that dairy's not great for their system (causes bloating, body aches, etc) so they've switched to almond and/or coconut milk instead. Besides being lactose free, almond milk also has less sugar. Skim milk has more protein but less fat. It's all about what your individual nutritional needs or goals are.
Not advocating either way but just as an FYI, the intolerance was discovered through a detoxification/re-introduction program.
I really love the Blue Diamond Almond Coconut milk blend, especially in my coffee but I may switch back to 1% or low fat soy milk for the added protein.0 -
Skim milk has a lot more protien and calcium than almond. It really helps me hit my protien macro each day. 13.5 grams a glass!0

Milk intolerant.0

I have a lactose intolerence, so I use Almond Milk. The brand I use has MORE calcium than dairy, but I do try to get my protien from other sources. We are all different, it's a matter of what works for you!0
