What is a bump?

I see people commenting with just the word "bump" and I have no idea what it means!!! Help.

    They are just putting in a post to keep the thread at the top of the Recent Post list. That way either they can find it easier or more people get to see it. I have noticed that some of these threads practically explode and if there isn't any new posts in a thread it gets pushed down very quickly and can be hard to find if you happen to be looking for it.

    Bring Up My Post

    Basically when a thread dies, it's a way to just bring up the post.

    Some forums say this is against the rules, I don't know about here.

    Posting in a topic also lets you find it easier because you can find it under "My Topics;" that one shows you all the threads you've posted in. If there's an interesting question posed, people will bump the topic to keep an eye on it.
