I got the polar ft4 yesterday and just finished doing 30DS with it. I love it, my grandma got it for me for my birthday from atmosphere for 139 before tax.

I am thinking about getting the fitbit instead of a hrm.
  • From what majority rules says, it looks like Polar is it. For everyone who uses Polar is it simple to use? It seems like there is a lot to the RS100 that was mentioned.

    What's that?

It's better to try to stay in a zone if your main goal is to burn fat and lose weight with the RS100 you can grow into it and not need to up grade unless you want to start gps tracking for outside runs. The best feature to me on the RS100 is that it has what is called "Own Zone" it will set your high and low heart rate based on your recovery, stress time of day outside temp altitude and more...... every day you mught have a differnt level some high some low but its is so you dont over train or under train.

The Energy Efficient or Recovery Zone - 60% to 70%.

Training within this zone develops basic endurance and aerobic capacity. All easy recovery running should be completed at a maximum of 70%. Another advantage to running in this zone is that while you are happily fat burning you may lose weight and you will be allowing your muscles to re-energise with glycogen, which has been expended during those faster paced workouts. the RS100 also knows and displays what percentage of calories from fat you have burnt...

I have a Polar that I bought 4 years ago. The F11. Not sure if you can still get it but mine also has a lot of functions. If you just want to track calories it is very easy to use. I put on the chest strap and the watch, push a button on the watch to start exercise and push once more to begin and that's it. During the exercise I can scroll through the length of time, calories burned, heart rate zones etc. I love my Polar! I also just recently changed the battery for the first time myself in the watch and chest strap. Very easy.

I wonder if this is the newer version of my F11? Mine has all these features too. I really like the own zone on mine.

I have been using a Polar FT4 for about 18 mos. Just changed the battery for the first time. I went to a jeweler. I absolutely LOVE it and consider it my exercise buddy. I wear it for my regular workouts and anytime I am doing anything strenuous like yard work or cleaning or long walks, where I want to capture my calorie burn.

It has some of the same features but the RS is the Runners series and the FT are the fitness series , I don't think the F11 can do Intervals splitt times and laps ect..

I have the Garmin FR70 and I love it. It's kind of pricey but I was told that it's good for accuracy with chest strap. I heard Polar is a good brand also.
