Losing and Gaining, expected?

So I started Insanity last week. I was also jogging anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half after the work out. Every other night I do situps, crunches, push ups, military presses, curls, and a few other things. I've almost gained all the weight back that I lost. About 11 lbs.

The mistake I made was not actually measuring myself around the waist and chest in the begining. 95% of the time I'm eating below my caloric goal. Is there a good chance that I put on 10lbs of muscle in just a week considering I'm burning 1200~ calories a day?

I'm aiming to lose around 50lbs in just 2-3 months? Am I going about this the wrong way? I started at 281lbs. I'm Almost 6'5" and the scale is scaring me a bit.

    how much are you eating?
  • 1000 Calories at the minimum. High Protein and some fat. I usually try to fill MFP nutrient list to make sure I'm not missing anything. Taking a daily vitamin as well.

sorry but 10 pounds of muscle would be a massive amount of muscle tissue to add. Even body builders don't add anything close to that amount in that short a period of time. Now, there can be some water weight if you were poorly hydrated before you started working out and now you're hydrating properly. But that's still a lot of weight to be adding. Are you sure about your calorie counts and how much you''re burning? 1200 extra calories burned a day is pretty high. I've been doing 20 minutes of HIIT plus my normal workouts and I don't get anywhere near 1200 extra calories burned. Of course, you're much larger than I am to start with which would mean higher calorie burns for basically same workout as me. But I'd double check your calories in and your calories burned.

How the heck can you do all that with only 1000 calories going in? I feel like your making the same mistake i did, eating too little trying to lose it all right now. i lost really fast and then hit a wall, look into what your body does if you eat too few calories, which for guys our size isnt 1200 calories like MFP reccomends, its probably around 2000. i bumped my calorie intake up to 1900 when i DONT workout and 2300-2500 when i do and have started to slowly loose again. Good luck!
  • Not sure how I get it done, but I just do.
Thanks for the replies. I'll try increasing my caloric intake and see where it goes.

My workouts consist of a lot of cardio. 40mins of insanity, Heart rate above 165 for 90% of the workout and a mild jog for an hour to an hour and a half, 5 mins breaks in between every 30 mins, I don't count the weight lifting because I"m not sure how to calculate that into weight loss. I know I'm burning a ton of calories. I did just remember that I did go over board on my last off day. Not even going to say what I ate but it was too much. I was thinking since I've been pushing myself so hard my off day just set me back. My body saw a lot of calories and said "yum gimme."

Eat more. Sounds like your eating half your bmr and not eating exercise cals back. At 6' 5" you need more fuel.
