Mac and cheese question

Ever see that table in Fred Meyers that has the hot rotisserie chicken and baked beens and Mac and cheese?

Well I bought a container of Mac and cheese and promptly ate it when I got home. About ten seconds later I thought, "oh, crap, there's no nutritional info on the container." thinking it a long shot, I scanned the bar code and was surprised when it worked (Ralph's Value Mac and cheese, serving - one package).

However, the scan reported that there was 70 grams in it, and the packaging said 16oz net. Any idea which it is? Doesn't seem like there was a lbs. in it, but I'm not sure.

    70 grams is about 2.5 ounces. That's the serving size. 16 ounce is the size of the entire package. If you ate the whole thing, you ate 6 servings.

    I thought of that but I'm finding it hard to believe that it was 1400 cal. for around a cup or so of Mac and cheese. But on the other hand I doubt it's 230 either (like mfp's database says).

    16 oz is more like 2 cups. Quite likely that 2 cups of mac and cheese has 1400 calories, or close to it.

    i found out 1 serving of chicago mix popcorn is 900 calories!! Popcorn!!? sign

    That's amazing!

    They might as well just fill the cup with lard, it's probably less cals.

    Oh well, I've eaten clean for the last two weeks so I dont think this little over sight will kill me.

    you have to watch what they mean by "ounces", it can be by weight (16 oz= a pound) or they can mean fluid ounces which is volume (8 fluid ounces = 1 cup). Probably was 16 ounces/1 pound. Most calorie counts on pasta are in ounces of volume of raw pasta or in ounces of volume of cooked pasta. But a lot of packaged food will be packed by weight. Damn us in the US who can't deal with grams, kilograms or liters....
