Any one else with Fibromyalgia?

Hey there, new to MFP but not new to trying to lose weight with an online community...
Anyways! Moving on, I have Fibromyalgia & I was diagnosed with it back in 2009.

In that time frame I had been struggling with eating because of my anti depressants (lack of appetite, etc) but have since dealt with that. I've been able to maintain a "healthy" weight (but not so healthy lifestyle, I need to exercise more!) in the past couple of years.

However, last month I was put on Lyrica. Since then, I've gained over ten pounds and become even more sluggish. My pain is almost completely gone, but I feel awful about myself & certainly feel sluggish from all the awful unhealthy food I've been over-doing! (Usually a good diet & working out keeps some of my symptoms at bay..)

I've talked to my doctor about going off the medication but since it was so hard to get through my insurance I doubt it will happen. (There's a few other downsides to it besides eating everything I see..)

I was wondering if anyone on here either A) Has Fibro & would like to be friends & share tips, B) Has been on Lyrica, gained weight, and has gotten it off, or C) Is in the same situation as I am.

Thanks!

MEEE! i also have Lupus and RA in many joints. I'm not on any medication (no insurance). I was on meds back in 04/05 and gained TONS of weight- and still have it.

Its a struggle and a long fight since i am always in pain and always tired- weight loss is so, so, so slow. 6 months and i am only down 18lb.

Not going to be easy or fast, just got to keep the goal in sight.
  • I've got RA too, & awful that you've got to deal with Lupus! I was so relieved when I got negative results for that! I'm trying to get off of my meds, I hate the way they make me feel!

I'm used to things being slow due to my lack of energy & amount of pain...but any loss is a good loss! (And with my meds they only take care of the pain aspect, I'm still constantly exhausted!) I guess I'll just have to keep reminding myself that it's possible, just not immediately!

    Mind if I add you?

nope, not a prob. fair warning though, i am not on the site as much as i used to be, (three jobs from 6am to 9:30pm) so i dont always log my food or post. But i am going to try and be better.
  • Hi. I just joined today. I have RA & FMS. Gained 30 lbs in the last 5 months due to prednisone to treat the RA. I hope I can lose the weight I gained. Some days (like today) it hurts to move. So I worry about a lack of exercise. Any suggestions/support would be awesome.
  • I also have fibromyalgia and just recently stopped my meds as also hated the way they made me feel. Also trying to do the healthy living due to the fibro. One thing I now recommend as I just started is accupuncture if you insurance covers. I really feel like it's giving me more energy
