I started exercising and stopped losing weight...?!

This is so aggravating. I have been steadily losing weight for almost a year with little to no exercise, I just changed my eating habits and that has helped tremendously. Well, I decided I wanted to start exercising so last week I bought a brand new treadmill and have been faithfully walking 20-25 minutes a day for about a week now. Well, yesterday was my weigh-in day and I was very disappointed to see that I had only lost HALF A POUND. I have been losing about 2-4 pounds a week.... until I started exercising. This makes no sense and it pisses me off. Nothing changed with my diet... I was still eating right and I thought adding exercise would HELP. The nutritionist I see at the Diabetes Education Center says it's probably because I'm building muscle and muscle weighs more than fat and you can lose inches without losing pounds, blah blah blah. But even if that's true, I'm still not happy. I want to see the numbers on the scale going down!

That was exactly me in mid-September. I was doing 15-20 minutes 4 times a week. I didn't lose anything. In October I upped it to 6 times a week... NOTHING. Then in November I upped it to 30 minutes 6 times a week and the weight came flying off. Wish it still worked. Since December, I haven't lost a bloody ounce.

I am having the same problem with the scale not moving the way I want it to. I am trying to convince myself to just stay away from the scale totally for awhile and quit being so frustrated. I can definitely tell a difference in my clothes and I can also tell a big difference in the way I feel and the energy I have. Keep exercising, it will eventually have to show on the scale!

Same happened to me - 2 days after I started the 30ds I gained 3lbs and theyve stayed for 3 weeks so far!
I'm led to believe that its my muscles retaining water as theyre not used to being used but it so discourgaing as I was loosing weight so so slowly to begin with!

Absolutely! I'm on the plateau from hell right now (since early December). I was doing the treadmill for 15-20 minutes, 6x week (changed from HIIT type to inclines) and then doing Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred right after for 15 times. Nothing budged so I dropped the treadmill and went on to Level 2 of the Shred. I'm trying to stay off the treadmill until I'm done the whole program which will be at the end of February. Hopefully, when I go back to running, it will start coming off again.

I've thought about trying 30 Day Shred but it would probably kill me. lol. I better wait for that until I'm in better shape.

Update: I missed my treadmill last night so I "indulged" and did my workout for 30 minutes with no Shred last night. Oh dear God! The bloody scale finally went down a WHOLE pound this morning! <happy dance!>

So if I stay off the treadmill and only do my body toning classes and yoga, think my weight loss will speed up?
