SYNCH to the machines at the gym?
I never have to touch the sensors now - the machines know my constant heart rate (it matches what the FT7 watch displays)
Convenient (and hygienic )
Is that a feature of all Polars?

only to the machines that have the polar logo on them. most of the machines are the same number, but i find that the numbers on the versaclimber are much more elevated than what sows on my watch, sometimes by as much as 40 BPM0

Mine does with the machines at Gold's, and it seems to do it very accurately. Love it!0

I quit using a polar a while ago. The machines at my gym could never sync up and more often than not there was too much intereference to get it to even work right. I ws getting better readings from the handholds and those were notoriously off. Mine wasn't top of the line though, and the gym has since changed up all it's cardio equipment so I will consider trying a newer one. If yours has generally the same readings in the gym as it does outside at reasonably the same effort level then good on you. I'd use them if I could get them to work right.0

Depends on age of machine.
Had an analog HRM previously that could be read by the machine, and then a Timex digital that could not.
The Polar I understand ouputs digital and analog.
So electrical interference can effect the machine and not the watch reading the pulse correctly.
BTW, the machine still won't use that HR in calculations for calories. So do bring your HRM watch.0 -

Well the displays always match each other..and while it is convenient I get a little paranoid and start to wonder if perhaps the synching can cause problems/interference for my actual polar ft7 readings. Do I have reason to worry?0 -

Not at all, the chest strap is sending a signal into the air, whatever can read it correctly sees the same thing.
One is broadcaster, others are receivers only.
So the only problem from the machine would be a motor going bad sending out electrical interference in general, causing problems for anything. But digital HRM's get over that usually.0 -
Mine syncs and I love it.0

It's kinda funny when my rate picks up on the person next me on the treadmills.. I'm pretty sure it is screwing up their calorie counts. What can you do?? Just go with it I guess..0

I have the Polar ft4 and it does the same thing! I love it, it makes it super easy for me to keep an eye on my heart rate on the treadmill, and use my wrist computer to track my calories burned.0

My BF's syncs with the machines at our Planet Fitness. Kinda cool, makes me want one!0

The machines don't use HR in calculations.
So nothing more than freaking them out.
When that happens, sometime increase your pace and really shoot your HR way up there - see if they start slowing down because they think their heart is going to explode.
That would be funny if they stood on the edges waiting for it to go down, start feeling their chest, ect.0
