Weighing In

Who all out there weighs every day? every other day? once a week? once a month?

I used to weigh myself everyday but I found it would get very discouraging do to daily fluctuations (mostly in water weight). However, I'm scared that if I don't do this I may not catch a problem before it starts. I suppose it will give me more motivation knowing I have an impending weigh in.

Either way, I'd like your thoughts on this subject. The pros and cons of both.

I weigh myself every day - but the only weight that "counts" - the one I log - is my Tuesday morning weight. Although many people discourage daily weighing, I know that for me, it keeps me focused. When I stop stepping on the scale in the morning, I tend to be more lax about my food choices and exercise. I don't freak out with the daily fluctuations because I know they're going to happen!

I'm a daily weigher, but for most that makes them neurotic. LOL!

The reason I weigh daily is because I'm looking for food allergies/sensitivities that appear on the scale as water retention. For instance, I'm up 1.5 pounds from yesterday. Stupid tostidos baked scoop chips! I knew I shouldn't have had them! Some people find it very useful to keep that close of an eye on their weight. But you can't let the daily fluctuations get to you. Ups and downs happen all the time. It's a part of life!

I suggest weighing in no more than once a week for most people. You don't get the ups and downs of daily weighing, and it's an averaged weight over the week, in all honesty. If I weren't looking for bloating and water retention I'd only use the weight I get at my official weigh ins at the doctor's office!

I know the proper thing to do is weigh-in once a week first thing in the morning...BUT sometimes I obsess about the scale and even weigh myself twice ..one time I weighed myself in the AM and them immediately had a large BM ..then weighed myself again (no change !?) ...anyone willing to admit to that pathetic obsession???????????

Every 3 months. I used to be a scale *kitten* (referring to myself only) and weighed in every moring but it became too obsessive because every time the scale went up I wanted to reduce my calories which is not good. So now I stick to my calories and only weigh in 4x per year!

4X a year? That is gutsy. And awesome. And extra awesome.

I weight most days a week. I've noticed my weight loss goes like this :

Early in the week, I lose LOTS - usually .2 - .4 pounds a day.
Middle of the week, I slightly gain / stay the same.
Towards the end of the week, I lose slowly.

What I do is this : I weigh in on Saturday. I continue to weigh in as long as the scale is dropping.

Usually by Wednesday, the scale has stopped moving, so I stop getting on. I weigh again on Saturday.
