I've been reading about all these great and easy recipes you can make with a blender and feel like I'm missing out! I especially would love to make smoothies! :drinker:

Sooo... does anyone have a recommendation for a good one?

I've looked into the Magic bullet, and was wondering if it is really all that great or if a regular blender is just as good. Help please!

my friend has a magic bullet and it is pretty swell! She makes her smoothie right before she walks out the door for work, and sips it in the car while driving. so easy, so convenient, I am definitely interested in getting one after seeing how awesomely easy hers is.

to compare, I have a regular blender (big glass pitcher type) and I never use it. because it doesn't easily fit in the dishwasher.

Mine is a Kitchenaid. We had a Cuisinart and had it replaced twice.

    The Kitchenaid is awesome

    Hi all!

I just purchased a Magic Bullet a couple of weeks ago and I LOVE it! It's true that it only takes a minute or so to whip up a yummy smoothie or protein shake. That darned thing gets used at least 4-5 times a day in my house (hubby and I like the protein shakes! Hubby also likes to make other kinds of shakes with the bullet as well  ).

I found that it was cheaper at Bed Bath & Beyond than at Wal-Mart. Plus BB&B has those 20% off coupons that kick the price down even more. AND, where I am, the Kohl's department store has the Magic Bullet on sale for $39.99 right now (which is the price I paid at BB&B with the 20% off coupon).

Good luck in your search! :flowerforyou:

    Cheers! :drinker:

I have the magic bullet and LOVE it! it is very convenient. If you call to order one, ask them for free shipping. They will tell you no but we can discount the product XX amount of dollars. That is what I did. They had (have?) the buy one get one offer and I asked for free shipping and got like $30 or $40 off the price of the item. I use it a lot for smoothies, eggs, and to chop stuff.

Oh and I will add that the ones that you get from the company themselves come with a full sized blender and a juicer also. I have used the full size blender but not the juicer yet. I don't know if the ones that you get in store include those items or not. So, if you can get them to give you a discount you should pay about the same as in stores. If not, and those two items aren't important to you, then it is a better deal to buy it in a store.

I have the magic bullet and I love it. I can drink my smoothie right out of the container I blend it in. Very convenient. Good luck with your search.

I do this 1-2 times a day.. Blend it up and drink right from the container.

    For anybody buying one though.

This does NOT BLEND like a blender. I've put banana's and almonds in my magic bullet and it doesn't get blended. chopped up is more like it.
  • I'd go straight for the best and get a KitchenAid. It chops and blends EVERYTHING to perfection, and is the only machine that can truly pulverize ice cubes. Plus, they come in great colors and last forever.

For smoothies, I recommend taking a look at the Abs Diet. Fantastic!

thank you everyone for all the great advice! So I've got it narrowed down to The Magic Bullet and a KitchenAid. Wondering if anyone knows the difference between The Magic Bullet Express and the Deluxe version besides more gadgets. No increased wattage or anything?

I think that they might have a newer one that is cordless. I am not sure if that is what the Express one is or not...

I have a Kitchen Aid blender as well and LOVE it, well when i use it that is. Which is usually to make pina Coloda's but since i'm not drinking them right now, it doesn't get used much..LOL

I need smoothie recipes, as i have no clue on how to make them, would be able to use my blender more often!!

So if anyone wants to share some good recipes i would greatly appreciate it!

I have done mine all different kinds of ways. The one that I do most often is

    1/2 cup orange juice
    frozen blueberries
    1/2 banana
    frozen strawberries
    ice

I mix it up and if it is too think I will add some water in. If I don't have OJ, I just use all water. I have also added yogurt to them before and I use protein powder occasionally. I also just do strawberry ones with water and ice. Pretty much just throw some fruits in a blender. Super yummy! I hope this helps some.

I just bought a Magic Bullet, primarily because the cups are plastic. I am somewhat of a klutz and kept breaking the glass pitchers for my blender.

I was using an Oster blender, and loved it though. My main complaint with the Magic Bullet is that the cups aren't very big, but other than that, so far so good.

    Hi there,
I have a Magic Bullet as well but wanted something to bring to work so...if you have a "Big Lots" near you, they have a knock off for only $22 and I like the cups better - haven't used it much so not sure how long it will last, but seems to do the trick!

I have a cheapo President's Choice blender that rarely gets used. When I do use it, my fave smoothie is:

    About 6 ice cubes
    1 banana
    4-6 strawberries
    Cover with pineapple juice

    Blend

It's not exact, but it always turns out yummy.

I love my bullet but remember you are limited on the amount you can put in it - that's the only bad thig about it....
