Hi. Just wanted to ask if anyone has maintained a 3lb weekly weight loss during this tough journey? Just interested if it's possible.

I struggle to lose even 1lb sticking to the calories and exercising, I have lost some weight but I don't get weekly drops. I believe it's possible though.0

nope, i have had trouble losing like a pound or anything at all every week. i started january 9th and have lost 4 pounds altogether. i have been counting calories and working out as much as possible.....it's a little discouraging so far. hope your journey is going better than mine!0

This is my second week and I'm down 8lbs so far...0

For me when I started in November of 2010 I lost anywhere from 2 to 4 pounds a weeks the first 3 -4 weeks and then I dropped to about 1 lb every 1.5 - 2 weeks. Same thing happened when I started again January first after having a baby this past November. I lost big the first 3 weeks, then I hit a 3 week plateau. I have finally started losing again the past 2 weeks. Normal loss is about 1 lb every 1 - 2 weeks. Good luck with your journey!0

Thanks for your input. And good luck to all. I have been on MFP since Jan 4th and have lost 14 lbs. will weigh in tomorrow hoping for at least 2 more. Only 110lbs to go. UGH.:sad0

I dropped 11 pounds last month, so not quite. I started weight lifting this week, and I work out 5 days a week. My diary is set to NET 1200 a day.0

8lbs. That's fantastic! Great job. Keep it up0

3 pounds a week is a pretty high number to consistently hit. It'll come off, no need to be in a big hurry. It's more about consistency than high numbers in the long run anyway.0

I think you are doing great so far! I've been at it since around the same time and I've lost 8 pounds. I can remember the days (when I was younger) when I could lose weight much more quickly but I keep having to remind myself that this is FOR GOOD. If you lose it too fast its more likely to come back. Don't let unrealistic expectations derail you from staying the course. Trust me, I can speak from experience.0 -

It is very unlikely. The first few weeks you're often losing a lot 9and a lot of retained fluid) but the loss does naturally slow down as you get smaller.0

That sounds aggressive for long term weight loss. Slow and steady wins the race. I know we all want to get the pounds off as fast as possible, but the long term losers seem to have had success with a slower path: 1-2 pounds a week.
I'm down ~ 19 YTD which seems a little fast, but I have MFP set for 1.5 pounds. It seems like my weight loss has slowed into that range.0 -

Here is a guide for setting weekly weight loss goals. a 3lb/week goal may be safely achievable if you have 150+ lbs to lose otherwise you risk a host of issues such as malnourishment, hair loss, muscle loss, etc.
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal,
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal, and
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal.0 -
I lost mine at an average of 2.5 - 3lbs a week over a nine month period, it can be done, of course some weeks it is slow and then other weeks it comes off faster, but that's what my average weight loss was over that time frame.0
