Sprained ankle--what to do while it heals?

I'm a semi-professional athlete, and have been working to lose the last 10-15 lbs. I need for the pros. The only downside: I sprained my ankle two days ago. Ouch.
I have been running for ~20 minutes twice a week, followed by an hour of circuit/weight training, running 30-40 minutes two other days, swimming an hour one day a week, and going Latin dancing for two or three hours one day a week--all this and tracking calories, and in a month I've eked out a 3 pound loss.
Now I'm terrified I'm going to gain it back while I wait for this ankle to heal. Any suggestions for good cardio/resistance/any training that I can do for the next month? This is Day 2, so all I've been doing are abs, bicycles, and leg lifts (no weight)--walking is still mostly off-limits for the ankle until the swelling goes down.

When I had a soft tissue sprain in my foot I swam. You just need to be careful of that post-swimming appetite0

you can burn some calories doing upper body cardio... why not try punches? You can do them standing if possible, or try sitting. do cross-the-body punches like in the 30 day shred dvd or Power90.
It's not ideal, but it will still help.
Good luck.... just don't give up and stop altogether! :flowerforyou:0 -
I did a lot of arm work, and gradually started doing biking and swimming.
I also switched to maintenance. GET BETTER!

Swimming was all I could do without re-injuring myself.
Ankle sprains really really suck. I had a bad sprain this spring and went back to my regular routine a week after the swelling went down. It wasn't enough time to heal though because I wound up rolling it twice more as the ligaments were still weakend. Even now, months later that ankle is still a bit bigger than the other. I really hope I didn't damage it permanently, I definitely can tell it's still more fragile than my other ankle. I'm very careful with it now.0
