Eating too few calories ..everyday !

And, I think calorie burn from exercise may also be overestimated.
For example, 30 Day Shred is estimated at 504 calories per hour for a person who weighs 154 pounds. That is 8.4 calories per minute. It is a 20 minute workout not including the cool down. 20 minutes x 8.4 cals is 168. Of course if you weigh more than 154, that number would be a bit higher.
But you should still be eating more, because as the poster above has said, 1,200 is the minimum NET calories after exercising you should get.0 -
How long has it taken you to lose 17 pounds?
I started a couple/few days before NYE...Dec 27th or 28th0 -
I don't log daily activities like cleaning, walking, or folding laundry. I only log EXERCISE. Meaning I have to be in workout clothes wearing my HRM, moving my *kitten* nonstop and sweating bullets. Everything else is already accounted for in your BMR.
I see folks logging things like "driving" and "desk work" (major eye roll) and they are very frustrated and don't understand why they aren't losing weight.
^^ What She Said ^^
I clean two houses a week. Meaning for about 2.5 - 3.5 hours straight constant movement... Sometimes I even sweat a little... However, I don't log this as exercise. Because it is part of my lifestyle, my routine, my daily activity. The only exercise I log are my workout programs, running on the elliptical, or when I go for an intended exercise walk. But, if I go to the mall or grocery store to shop, I certainly don't log it as exercise.0 -
And if you want to know your true calorie burn I would recommend buying a HRM. I invested in one and I love every benefit it gave me!0

are you sure about some of your measurements on the food? Like 1.5 ounces of chicken is hardly anything. Ditto for the quantity of rice. Have you actually weighed/measured your food ever?
It is certainly bad to net that low but if that is really accurate then just change some of the 'diet' foods you use to regular food - like use regular salad dressing instead of a calorie wise one, cook your eggs in oil or butter, etc etc.
I'm not weighing but I do use measuring cups ..I used a 1/4 cup to scoop rice out tonight.rounded it off and swipped off the over spill..like you would flour ...then topped it with a half cup maybe a little less of spinach .. I had a small skinless chicken thigh.(smaller than the middle part of the palm of my hand ..I have small hands) ...I had 5 riblets (bone the size of my thumb-ish) I took a table spoon of dry garlic sauce ut in the 1/4 cup measuring cup and added 2 tbs of water to it to coat my chicken and ribs....and water as my drink for supper I think my measuring is pretty accurate ..but not spot on of course . I do have a scale .. a bowl on balance base type and a digital type..I will start using it more. I just guess my meat portions from what I eyeball ..knowing what it basically looks like measured out..
I know I won't start eating more or bulkier foods..I have no need for more food to fill my belly ...I would def take suggestions on healthy higher calorie (but nutritious not processed or sugar added) foods. I have never had much experience with avocados I could try that . I don't feel well when I eat sugar..I get shakes and tired etc..My family has a history of Diabetes..my Mom takes meds for it ..both of her parents did..and her brother and sisters do too ..I think I am effected by sugar /insulin spikes.0 -
I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in your exercise calories. There is no way MFP can be totally accurate in this. There are too many variables for them to be exact. I think you should forget about the numbers. I don't log my exercise at all. And I work out a ton. But I am on a different kind of diet. I am on a low carb diet, so it's not like calorie counting. But I have done calorie counting, and I never ate back my calories, because when I did, I gained weight. So just follow what your body is telling you and you will be fine. In other words, eat if you are hungry.0

where do you get your numbers for calories burned? They seem high- do you have a HRM? I think you'd be surprised at how much MFP and exercise equipment over exaggerate calories burned from the actual amount you would see if you wore an HRM.
And it's been said before- I probably wouldn't log stairs, cleaning or walking. Unless it is in your gym clothes, sweating hard, heart rate up ( the HRM will be helpful here) then it is just part of your daily activity that you pick when setting up your profile.
And I agree with the calorie dense foods. I also sometimes find it difficult to eat all my cals, and I have been seeing a nutritionist. I picked a Lunabar that has protein, iron etc, and it is decently high in calories to get my numbers up without eating a ton of food! Just a thought
Good luck!0 -

I am doing low carb too...It's jumped a lot trying to meet this calories thing everyone talks about...I keep it around 50 lately after deducting my fiber...but my sticks are able to stay purple...so far!0 -

I just put in what I do in the search bar under exercise..I log my 30 day shred as circuit training general ... I also have the digital readouts on my exercise bike and elliptical ..I get about 100 cals burned every 10 minutes with my bike ..and I usually get about 170 in 15-ish minutes on the elliptical ..going full out...jog-run motion to the point the poor thing is lifting off the floor at times . I will look into getting an HRM ...I live in the middle of no where ..no decent stores for atleast an hr and a half drive ... There is a Walmart about 25 minutes away ..would they sell them ?0 -
They say females 1200 a day min
males 1800
if your getting at least 1200 don't worry about it i never eat back my exercise calories
I am at -2300 something today lol
Tho i still have lunch/dinner to eat
hubby works nights im a housewife so i stay on his sleep hours
It is suggested that you eat 1200 calories NET. That means that AFTER exercise there is still 1200 calories showing in GREEN. Having a negative amount of calories on a regular basis is very dangerous. That means that your body is not getting ANY fuel at all...all your body had to eat that day was itself (which you might think sounds good, but it's not. Your body is eating your muscles...the things that help you exercise and help you lose MORE weight the more you have). If you continue on this path you will burn out...possibly even start losing your hair...your metabolism will slow down making it harder for you to lose weight. Please eat more You gotta eat to lose!
Thanks but ive done this for awhile now
This is what works for me
Ive lost 156lbs in 19 months before
I can't eat more than 1200 even if im burning more
I might eat 1400 somedays cheat days I eat even more
But I can't do it otherwise
I gained the weight back when we where buying/selling houses (about 40lbs worth) but i wasn't working out i was just eating junk, I have 56lbs left and im gonna do it then ill be at a total loss of 170
=D
I log EVERYTHING
cleaning, cooking, why? cause when im cleaning and cooking im jumping around doing lunges and running up and down the stairs
I know all this you have said and then some but my docs say im doing well and my levels are normal and im good
So personally I am not worried
I gained almost 200lbs when I quit smoking 12yrs ago
I was up to 330lbs
I was down to 176
now im 216
I got this =D
If i eat back all my calories i burn my weight loss flatlines at 0
takes 3500 BURNED cals to lose 1lb
Ive helped many lose 100s of lbs and this method works for some
everyones bodies are diff0 -

Walmart might have one, but you want to make sure you get a good one. A Polar HRM is reliable and you can order one online. You want to get one that has a chest strap, that is important!! The exercise machines aren't reliable since they are not factoring in your heart rate, even the ones that have the sensors for your hands are not accurate.
Everybody burns different amount of calories based on weight and effort, but I usually burn 100 cals spending closer to 15 minutes on the elliptical getting my HRM up to 80% of its max! Its funny when I look back to before I had the HRM and I was trusting the machines, I "burned" more calories, but had less exercise time. Now I have more exercise time but less calories!0
