When you created your account, you were asked how much you wanted to lose, either 1 or 2lb/week. If you chose 1lb, the system already did it for you by taking off 500 calories per day (7x500=3500 calories/week). If you chose 2lb, it took off 1,000 calories a day for you.
If you forgot what you set it at, go to My Home -> Goals -> Change Goals -> Guided -- and you should see it at the bottom, it's a dropdown box.0 -

Best advise I can give, is to get a cup of tea, settle down and read all the stickied threads at the top of the page. You should find the answers to lot's of questions, and also get lot's of tips.
Good luck, and welcome to MFP0 -

Yes, it's been worked out for you. The amount MFP gives you per day is the amount you'll need to eat to lose weight.0 -
the best thing to do is work out your BMR (Tools > BMR) and then set a goal that is close to that.
E.g. my BMR is 1357 so I set my calorie goal as 1400.
I aim to eat between 1200 and 1400 cals a day, usually closer to 1400 as I've recently worked out that I'm actually not eating enough at 1200.
Hope this helps, feel free to add me and ask anything.. I've researched pretty much every weight loss idea/technique so I know a fair bit0
