Not enough time for the gym on DATE NIGHT

Friday night is date night.
I have been doing a quick 30-45 minute workout at the gym on Fridays while my husband gets the children to Grandma's for the night. I usually go HARD for the entire time so that I can I don't feel too guilty about eating out.
Tonight, however, I have volunteered to cook for date night - Enchiladas YUM.
But I am not going to have time to get to the gym. I don't get off of work until 5:30, and then I really, REALLY need to get dinner ready! There is just not enough time between 5:30 and 7pm for me to work out, shower, make dinner, and get dressed to go.
I am just feeling panicky. This is totally messing with my routine. And of course, the more I stress about trying to stay under my calorie count, the more anxious I get about it!!!

Have you tried HIIT which is a 20 min cardio and is proven to get much better weight loss results than normal cardio, it's recommended you don't do more than 3 times a week. Google HIIT and there's lots of info on it.0

I say try not to stress about it. You are making dinner, so you have more control over what goes into the meal than if you were eating at a restaurant. Can you take a walk at lunch or on break? A walk does double duty as a bit of exercise and a way to help get rid of that panicky feeling.
Relax and enjoy your date night!0 -
The HIIT thing sounds interesting I'm gona have to check it out. But in the mean time, we have the pressing issue of tonight, right? I would try to take a walk at lunch, snack at your desk. I am in the same boat for today, but my hubby wants pizza tonight, and it looks like I'll be ordering chicken. But I get up every half hour and take a quick walk thru our building. It breaks up my day, and will give me a few extra precious calories to eat tonight. Good Luck!0

First, try to relax. Do you have a "rest" day where you don't work out? If so, take today as your rest day, and work out that day instead. Second, use the recipe function to figure out the calories in your dinner, if you haven't already. It may not be that bad! And third, if you can't do it, accept that you're making a lifestyle change, and that has to fit around your actual life. So if you can't work out today, you push yourself a little harder the next couple days, and then let it go. Also, try looking at your weekly calories in and calories burned. Sometimes that can give you a better sense of perspective, rather than looking at it day to day.0

Well uh....if it's date night I'm sure you could find a way to burn off those extra calories.
Don't stress about it hun. Or if anything, do some lunges, squats, counter top push ups while you are cooking your meal.0 -
Would never sacrifice a workout for a date night. They can wait an extra hour or two.0

It's ONE night.
One night doesn't define anything. Life is about moments, not all about counting calories and exercising. The whole point of a date night is to focus on the two of you. Whatever happens on the scale can be reversed, you can't reverse time spent with your family. Yes your health is extremely important but that doesn't overtake everything else, you need to find some balance and focus on your relationship for one night.0 -
Tabata Protocol- one of the HARDEST workouts you'll ever do IF you do it correctly. 4 minutes long. 6 with a decent warm up.

I actually work at home, and it's -10 outside. There's no chance of walk, LOL. I'd have to take all six of the kids with me.... I don't even have enough room in the stroller / wagon / baby carrier.
Maybe I'll try to work in the 30DS today, or figure out a HIIT.
Phrak - If it was just Hubby, he'd wait... these are friends of ours who want their kids in bed at a reasonable hour.
Sex doesnt' burn nearly enough calories.... darn it all. Otherwise I'd be skinny as hell.0 -
