Blenders for under $50?

Looking to buy a blender for protein shakes.
I'm debating about buying the Magic Bullet but have heard it isn't good at crushing ice.

Any recommendations for a good blender under $50? :)

    I like that my Ninja crushes ice to a 'snow' like consistency. My smoothies resemble 'soft serve' ice cream.
