So my step daughter told me about MFP and I just joined this week. I started out at 338 lbs about 2.5 years ago. I started slowly losing weight and about a year ago I started getting serious. I started eating healthier and working out. I had been down to 248 but I went and quit smoking about 2 months ago and now I'm back up to 262 lbs. I really wanted to be at my 100 lb mark by my 50th birthday next month but thats not going to happen. I've only been losing about 5 lbs a month. I'm going to go to a family reunion in June so thats my new target date, surely I can lose 24 lbs by June... right?

good luck girls... I think it's addictive too. It makes me want to exercise more just so I can "type it in", and makes me want to lick the knife after making the pb &j sandwiches for the kids for lunch less, because I don't want that to count against my totals. we'll see how I do during our weekend away tomorrow.

Welcome to MFP! I am over 50 and also have a long way to go but I have come along way already. Feel free to add me to your friend list if you wish. This site and the motivation and support I have received thus far have been invaluable to me.
  • I agree completely! Typing in the good makes you want to do it more often. But I noticed on Valentine's day after my husband took me out to the movies & dinner I hated putting in all the poor choices. Even though I ordered very well, steamed veggies(dry) and rice instead of starchie potatoes. Even cutting myself off when I was full, when normally I'd finish not to waste money. It was the cursed movie popcorn (without butter)! Also had my first soda in months.
I keep reminding myself one day at a time.
