Hi! Welcome to MFP! They don't really have a diet "plan" as far as what you can and can't eat, they just recommend that you stay under their calorie suggestions. A lot of people just use portion control, some people prefer very clean eating, some go lowfat, etc. Some people mix it all up and just kind of go day by day. It all has to do with the preference of each individual user. :flowerforyou:0

Hey girl!
I would just start by logging everything you eat to see what your typical diet looks like. I have the mobile app downloaded which helps me get accurate nutritional info on what I'm eating by scanning its barcode. When you start logging what you eat you will see how you can make changes to eating the correct portions whether you chose to work out or not. Call me if you need any help though because I'm only 10 days in but i LOVE it.0 -
Ok here it goes this is the starting point to see what my diet looks like .thank you will call.oh by the way im scared to see this but long for the results.0 -
Exactly! Once you count and see how much it has been, it'll be easy to see why the weight has been sticking around and easy to see how to lose it as well! I'm excited for you I can't wait to start seeing your results!0

Dont eat 1200 calories unless you are under 5 feet tall.
Instead opt for the 1600-2k cals to lose fat.0 -
There is no set "diet" plan. MFP simply provides the avenues to track your food, water intake, and excercise along with tools for support from groups you can join or encouragement from "friends." I have been a member for two weeks and find it very helpful. I belonged to WW in the past and try to base my eating on their principles and guidelines. I find MFP suggests an ample calorie count so you can not feel deprived during the day and making it easier to stay "on track" while learning or re-learning good eating habits. The weight loss should be slow but steady. Search out the eating plans that you feel best suits your needs and use that. The main thing is to TRACK your food, at least it is with me. I have done well so far with the exception of a road trip with friends yesterday that blew that day. I have begun on track again this morning. The crucial part with me is not to beat myself up because if did not do well yesterday and to get back on the guidelines today.
Good luck with your weight loss journey and I wish you well!0 -
Welcome! Everyone has given great advice, and pretty much what I would say. I do want to add that I have found for me, that lots of lean protein helps keep me feeling full.0

I agree. If you track it you will see what you are doing wrong. Knowing is half the battle. Once you know then you can change it. I found out I wasn't eating enough Fruits and veggies. If I eat a lot of fruits and veggies I tend to looose weight. If I don't then I gain. It's a matter of knowing what is right for you.
As far as the response about calories. I would suggest that you eat what is right for you in calories. I am 5'6. And if I ate 1600 calories I would gain about 3 lbs on average a DAY! So I would not take that as a suggestion. If you are an active person and move around a lot then yes you should eat that much. But sedentary peeps like me does not need that much calories because I set at a desk all day and don't burn much in calories to have to replace it. Calories and what you need is based on your lifestyle height and weight. I'm sedentary so my life style only calls for about 1200 calories a day and even that is pushing it for me. Your metabolism level will aso factor into calorie intake. I have a slow matabolism so I don't need much calories. You have to do what is right for you.0
