Want To Block A Forum Poster?

There are a lot of trolls on here and it takes the fun out of the forums for me. You will notice its mainly the same people a lot of the time. If you want to block someone, look next to their name at the said of their post and there's a downwards arrow and an option to ignore user. In future you can't see their comments and they are not getting fuel to add to their fire and will hopefully stop trolling if we all choose to ignore them. Useful as this can be distressing. I've been wondering how to do it for a while. Its so simple so thought I'd share!

anyone we should avoid?0

Just block anyone you think is being mean to someone else or you. Less likely to be surrounded by negativity when you read posts and if everyone keeps blocking these idiots soon it won't be worth them trolling because there will be nobody reading and responding to their posts! X0

You can block them by clicking on the little down arrow under the profile photo.. :flowerforyou:0

you know when people said next to their name I would go onto their page and couldnt find it, then when I read this I immediately could find it. Thank you, in the future I will be using this tool, way too many debbie downers on here and it has made me stop reading forums because of them and making me not want to post on them.0

Takes the fun out? Really?
Might not be fun but I learn quite a bit from all the bickering. One member opposing another usually results in someone throwing a few studies or theories around. Saves me from researching it, or encourages me to look into it myself, and hearing both sides helps me form my own opinions.
Plus it's nice to know what the opposition's thinking, formulating, going to use as ammo.

This.
I'll agree with this, and I'll add, not fawning and coddling an OP is also not trolling. Support does not automatically equal shiny happy puppies and kittens, sometimes it's tough.0 -

This is also true. Some of the most supportive people on this site are the ones who have the courage and caring to tell you when you're doing something that is unhealthy, unproductive or dangerous. Kindness comes in different forms.0 -
Just to add to my original post... I love getting constructive criticism, I love the different sides to a story and how I can learn from it, I love a little debate, I'm here to learn all I can to continue helping me on my journey. However... There are some really really rude individuals on here who seem intent on causing as much upset as possible. They are the minority but its the same people over and over again. Some of it is just down right cruel and that's where I cross the line. I don't walk around with rose tinted goggles, but if I found someone really offensive in the way they went about giving advice I'd block. Harsh advice can be given In a nice way, doesn't have to be in a patronizing degrading way.

That wasn't specifically directed at you. Some posters seem to actually think that.

so ... why post on the forums if you don't want opinions? You only want people to agree with you?
I believe someone who NEVER listens to dissenting opinions might be worse than a troll.
of course, that's just MY opinion.0 -

Calling people idiots isnt very nice0 -
I agree....some people are just mean spirited in their posts. There is a way to disagree with an opinon without being mean. Of course there are people out there that think their opinion is the only one that counts and the only one that is right and they sometime come across as mean....I actually feel sorry for them...close minded means you are not willing to learn and grow.so ... why post on the forums if you don't want opinions? you dont find this at all patronizing? do you block yourself?0 -
I have used this button about a LOT purely because of pic quoting in the meal pics threads. So many dumbasses don't read.0

Now that the info is out there, I am locking this thread as I can see it is already turned into name calling.
Might be a good time to practice the use of the 'ignore button'...........
1. No Attacks or Insults and No Reciprocation
a) Do not attack, mock, or otherwise insult others. You can respectfully disagree with the message or topic, but you cannot attack the messenger. This includes attacks against the user’s spelling or command of written English, or belittling a user for posting a duplicate topic.
b) If you are attacked by another user, and you reciprocate, you will also be subject to the same consequences. Defending yourself or a friend is not an excuse! Do not take matters into your own hands – instead, use the Report Post link to report an attack and we will be happy to handle the situation for you.
