Giving up 'diet' drinks.

Drinks are probably the main area I struggle with on my diet. I know drinks full of sweeteners and crap are bad for me, but I just can't bring myself to drink calories - when you are on 1200 - 1500 calories a day as I have been for the last 4 years, sitting and drinking a nice glass of fresh orange juice at 150 cals is just torture because all you can think is 'I could have had a banana and yoghurt for that!!'
I have given up diet drinks before and stuck with it from any where from a few days to a few months, but always end up back there.
So what can I drink, what low calorie but lovely and refreshing drinks are there? I think I'd consider anything over 20cals for half a pint to be 'too much'.
I drink lots of tea (decaf, peppermint, green - but HATE fruity ones) and water already but sometimes I just need that thirst quenching hit you get from a nice cold glass of something refreshing and/or fizzy.

SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia is great for flavoring water. I like the english toffee, but there is chocolate, vanilla creme, plain, lemon, orange, etc.

Carbonated Water either flavored or I add limes and fruit to it or sometimes just plain - you get the fizziness and the "ahhhh" feeling without anything else. Whole foods has some good flavors, wal-mart and target and kroger carry flavored or unflavored seltzer water, but one thing to get used to is there is no "sweetness". Some people don't like that. If you just want that refreshing feeling without the salt, sugar, or artificial sweetners and stuff, then try soda water with fruit or flavored seltzer water.0

They all sound great, I am from the UK though and not sure you can get any of that stuff over here.
I will look into it/similar alternatives though. Thanks.0 -

Tesco flavoured fizzy water is great, and I even put a drop of vodka in on a weekend :laugh:0

I feel your pain. This is a MAJOR struggle for me too. And all for the same reasons you listed. I want the taste, I don't want to take on additional calories. *sigh*0
