Can anyone help interpret sugar?

I just started tracking my daily food intake and have noticed my sugar is always over my allotment. I don't eat processed foods, but eat fruits (apples, oranges, bananas). Are these fruit sugars an issue for weight loss?

In terms of weight loss, it's only an issue if you go over your daily calories.
Sugar = Carbs, and I already track those, so I don't even worry about tracking sugar. Even diabetics don't count sugar, only carbs.
Don't sweat the small stuff. :flowerforyou:0 -
There is a lot in the media at the moment about "sugar is toxic" so if you start searching you will find every opinon under the sun on this topic.
In my opinion (and my personal experience), sugar from fruit isn't a problem. It comes packaged with lots of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fibre and other goodies and is tasty and enjoyable.
I try to avoid sugar that doesn't come with nutrients (cakes, biscuits, chocolate, lollies..... my weakness!) though I'm not always very successful.
Eating lots of sugar hasn't stopped me losing weight, though I know that I need to keep working on cutting down the excess amounts of sugar from junky sources in order to be as healthy as I can be.0 -
To my understanding it is the excess of calories consumed and not burned that cause you to gain weight. Fruits have natural sugars but they also have carbs and calories. So if you are keeping a calorie count you may want to choose wisely the fruits that you eat for the day so that you do not go over and by this I do not mean only the calories but the portion of carbs that you are allowed to eat.0
