They'll weigh you. Talk to you about weightloss. And try to sell you stuff.0

(don't buy the stuff! I lost a fair bit of weight on weightwatchers, having never eaten one of their low cal cookies...:-) )0

I did it online. It is points that are based off of calories and fiber formula. It is a decent program and so long as your work is buying, heck yeah. I like MFP more. More positive people on the forums and I love my friends on here.0

I had lot of success from weight watchers meeting..I had amazing leaders...if they switched meeting times and I got a new leader I would loose interest...I have been a lifetime member for 6 or 7 years...it gave me a real foundation for eating and reframing my thoughts about food...u do not need to buy anything from them to succeed with their program...
I do not attend meetings regularly any longer but I give them credit for giving me the foundation to succeed on a program like mfp. My focus has shifted from being skinny to being fit...and now working on building muscle.
Best of luck!0 -
I've been to meetings and was never once pressured to buy anything. Maybe its different in the at work programs? But I went for 22 weeks and lost over 40 lbs. Then I started school and stopped going to my meetings and did the online program but slowly faded away with 40 hours work and full load of college courses.0

I have joined WW on and off over the years.
I have had success with it a few years ago - and have had no success with it recently. So it boils down to youro own willpower and dedication
In the UK the procedure is you turn up to the meeting, fill out a registration card, pay some money ( in UK they do a monthly pass which is taken out of your bank by direct debit monthly,, it works out cheaper and you get access to the online stuff included - it is cheaper than paying for each week as you go). Then you go and wait to get weighed and have a brief chat with the leader. The meeting then follows - which is usually about 30 -45 minutes... New members stay behind after the meeting to go through the fine details of the plan with the leader.
It does work - in that you are using their Pro Points system - which is a simplified measurement of calories/fibre/unprocessed food. If you can stick to it, then you will lose weight.
AFM - I didn't/don't have much weight to lose - and didn't lose much as I was excercising hard. Soin those first couple of weeks only lost a couple of pounds.
a lot can depend on your leader too. I have found some encouraging - and some downright useless. My last one didn't have a clue about nutrition IMO. I have learnt more myself about nutritition and the values of exercise and muscle gain from joining on line forums and my own research. I got frustrated that I ws paying out £5 per week for someone just to weigh me - who knew less than I did about what was the right thing to eat. they also sell, sell, sell their WW products - the chocolate cereal bars and sachets of cappucino etc. All of which are not healthy at all - full of preservatives and other bad stuff.
I would say join up and see how it goes. You have the chance to back up your knowledge on this forum - just use the WW meeting as a tool to keep on track - i.e. someone is weighing you each week , so you are accountable to them.
Good luck with it - it's a good feelign to see the numbers go down.
